Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

In the coming years, many people prefer to choose a domestic vacation rather than the international one. However, I completely disagree with this statement because holidays in abroad helps in cultural exchange, provides better educational options, career settlement, unique attractions, and landscapes which many people may not find in their own country.

The most significant reason to go on an abroad trip is an affordable international travel. Let us take the travel companies for instance which nowadays are providing a bucket full of golden opportunities with wide range of attractive, and affordable packages. If a person is planning holidays with a fixed budget then they prefer to go for an overseas package rather than choosing domestic one in the same range. The other most important reason to visit outside countries is to find the better educational platforms, and a good career options which might be difficult to find in one's own country. Moreover, people are now very concern about their social status, and to maintain that dignity they prefer to call themselves as an international travellers.

In addition to, travel in foreign countries helps in cultural exchange which makes them well aware about their living standards. To exemplify, people who travel abroad have a good knowledge of their culture, traditions, food, and way of living. Furthermore, the people who travel to catch unique attractions worldwide love to spend holidays in countries like Italy which is world famous for its monuments, and the country like India which holds breathtaking landscape views.

In conclusion, there are many benefits of travelling abroad like budget friendly options, better career platforms, scenic views and social influence which completely shifts the interest of travellers from domestic travel.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You successfully address all parts of the task by taking a clear position that you completely disagree with the prompt. Your response includes relevant ideas such as international travel being affordable, cultural exchange, educational platforms, and career opportunities. However, some of these ideas are under-developed or less fully explored than others. For instance, mentioning career settlement and education is a good start, but these points are listed rather than properly extended with specific examples or explanations. Similarly, the point about social status and dignity is introduced briefly without deep exploration. To reach a higher band, you need to ensure that every main idea is fully explained and supported with robust examples and logical consequences throughout the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

Your essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion. You use paragraphing sufficiently to separate different main ideas, such as grouping affordability and status in the second paragraph, and cultural exchange and attractions in the third. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. For example, transitional phrases like 'In addition to,' and 'To exemplify, people who travel abroad have a good knowledge of their culture...' show awkward phrasing and mechanical linking. Furthermore, referencing is occasionally unclear, such as pronoun use in 'if a person is planning holidays with a fixed budget then they prefer...'. To improve, you should focus on making your cohesive devices flow more naturally and ensure your referencing between pronouns and their antecedents is precise.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task and successfully attempt less common vocabulary items, such as 'bucket full of golden opportunities', 'cultural exchange', and 'breathtaking landscape views'. However, there are noticeable spelling, word choice, and collocation errors that prevent a higher score. For instance, phrases like 'holidays in abroad', 'an international travellers', and 'very concern about' contain grammatical and lexical inaccuracies in word form and preposition usage. Additionally, expressions like 'better educational platforms, and a good career options' show minor lapses in article usage and pluralisation that belong to lexical choices and collocations. To achieve a higher band, you need to refine your precision in word choice, ensure accurate collocations, and eliminate spelling and word-form errors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You display a mix of simple and complex sentence forms throughout your essay, attempting various structures such as conditional sentences ('If a person is planning holidays...') and relative clauses ('Italy which is world famous...'). There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, but they rarely impede communication. Examples of grammatical slips include 'many people prefer to choose' instead of simple present tense alignment, articles missing or misused in 'the international one' and 'choosing domestic one', and slight punctuation issues around modifying clauses. Your control of basic sentence structures is generally secure, but your attempts at more complex structures introduce occasional errors in agreement and articles. To move up, you should aim for a higher proportion of error-free complex sentences and tighten your command over articles and determiners.
