In the future, more people will choose to go on holiday in their own country and not travel abroad on holiday. Do you agree or disagree?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is predicted that in the future an increasing number of individuals will prefer to spend their holidays in their home-country instead of travelling abroad. I certainly agree with this statement for the following reasons.
Nowadays, locals prefer to explore different parts of their own country without experiencing unnecessary burden. Although travelling abroad offers several benefits like cultural exchange, first hand experience of living with another community and so on, it requires considerable amount of money and attention for visa applications, tickets and accommodation. When travelling abroad, people often need to buy clothes and other materials which they need for their trip and has no use moving forward. Consequently, this not only requires advance planning but also consist risk of losing money. Therefore, people should start making wiser decisions about their holiday destinations while benefiting their own finances.
Additionally, people will decide to go on holiday destinations to obtain better knowledge about their own land. As some countries acquire a vast geographical land which have different time zones and weather across them. Different specifications of different directions invite their citizens to experience living in other part of their own country. This is also evident in India where people travel from one state to another to explore food, culture, traditional values, historic monuments and so on. Ultimately, by adopting this practice they will contribute to the growth of their national economy.
In conclusion, undoubtedly domestic tourism can reduce the unwanted burden on people's life while making their vacations affordable. Moreover, this will also lead to rise in economy within the country because people will start investing locally. I completely agree with this choice of the public as this can benefit the nation in a significant way.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the task with a clear position throughout, as seen in the clear agreement stated in the introduction and reinforced in the conclusion. Ideas are extended and supported, particularly when discussing the financial burdens of international travel and the diverse cultural experiences available within a large country like India. However, there is a tendency to over-generalise certain points, such as assuming that international travel consistently requires purchasing clothes with no future use. While the main arguments are well-supported, some parts exhibit minor tendencies toward over-generalisation rather than fully nuanced development, which prevents the response from achieving a higher rating.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The essay demonstrates a clear logical organisation and progression throughout. Each paragraph has a distinct central topic, moving smoothly from the introduction to financial considerations in the second body paragraph, local exploration in the third, and a succinct conclusion. Cohesive devices are used flexibly, including transition markers like 'Consequently', 'Additionally', and 'Ultimately'. However, referencing and paragraph transitions occasionally feel slightly mechanical, and certain cohesive links could be managed more subtly. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately to structure the flow of ideas, contributing to a coherent overall arrangement.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The writer uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items with some awareness of style and collocation, such as 'unnecessary burden', 'cultural exchange', and 'national economy'. However, there are occasional inaccuracies in word choice, word form, and collocation. For instance, phrases like 'consist risk' instead of 'carries a risk' or 'consists of a risk', and 'go on holiday destinations' rather than 'choose domestic holiday destinations', demonstrate the minor slips typical at this level. Spelling and word-choice errors are present, but they do not impede communication, allowing the reader to follow the arguments easily.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt at varied syntactic structures such as subordinate clauses beginning with 'Although' and 'As'. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation throughout the text, including article omissions and grammatical patterns like 'which has no use moving forward' instead of 'which have no use moving forward', and fragment issues such as 'As some countries acquire a vast geographical land which have different time zones and weather across them.' Despite these errors, they rarely impede communication, and the writer maintains a generally acceptable level of control over basic and complex sentence construction.
