Student answer (Band 6.5)

There is a growing debate whether individuals would prefer to enjoy holidays in their home country, or would travel overseas. Although many experts believe that ease of travel and absence of any linguistic or cultural barriers would push public to travel inside the country, I believe that with the shrinking of travel time, and active marketing by many states' to foster their tourism sector would make a huge population to 3opt for international travel instead of demostic.

A major group of society travels to experience new cultures, markets and places. This group of people would never find themselves confined to geographical boundaries, but rather would explore different parts of the world which satisfy their pursuit of a new horizon. For example, people living in areas with lower tempratures would love to visit places with normal or high temperaturs, and vice versa. A data published by UAE MOFA shows a greater net influx of tourists in the last and first quarter of year, while the second and third quarter shows more people going outside UAE to travel cooler places like Europe.

Another factor which contributes more to the international tourism is the ease of international travel. Many airlines provide economical tickets for fligts to top tourist destinations in the peak seasons. A cherry on the top, these airlines also provides hotel bookings which help tourists to book their residence along with air ticket from one place. Furthermore, many countries have recently been promoting their tourism sector as it brings foreign people in the country who spend money and eventually helps the local market and industry. As a result, these states invent innovative method of marketing and invests in toursim related infrastructure which appeal to masses to visit these countries.

On balance, despite that domestic toursim is easy and economical, ease of travel, quest to experience different weathers and cultures would make people to choose for international travels.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

Your position is clear: you disagree that domestic holidays will become more popular, and the conclusion restates this view. You support it with relevant reasons, including interest in different climates and cultures, cheaper flights, airline booking services, and countries’ tourism promotion. The UAE example also helps illustrate seasonal travel patterns. These ideas are extended with explanations, so the response addresses the task effectively. However, some claims are broad—for example, that people seeking new experiences “would never find themselves confined” to their own country—and the example is presented as a general data finding without much detail. Developing one or two examples more precisely and acknowledging why domestic holidays might still appeal would make the argument more fully developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your position, two body paragraphs develop supporting reasons, and the conclusion summarises your view. The progression from cultural and climatic motivations to travel convenience and tourism marketing is logical. Linking expressions such as “For example,” “Furthermore,” and “As a result” help show how ideas relate. Some connections are less smooth, however. The opening sentence introduces both preferences, while the next sentence shifts to a claim about what experts believe before your own position, making the contrast slightly difficult to follow. “A cherry on the top” is also an awkward transition in this formal argument. Use more precise links between claims and evidence, and make references such as “this group” unmistakably clear.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “geographical boundaries,” “international tourism,” “tourist destinations,” and “tourism sector.” These choices allow you to discuss travel motivations and economic effects, and some less common expressions show an effort to vary your language. At this level, however, there are several spelling and word-choice errors, such as “demostic,” “tempratures,” “fligts,” and “toursim.” Some collocations are also unnatural: “a greater net influx of tourists” and “choose for international travels” do not sound idiomatic in context. “A cherry on the top” is informal for this essay. Check spelling carefully and learn common combinations such as “choose international travel” and “book accommodation.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You attempt a mix of sentence forms, including complex clauses with “Although,” “while,” and “as,” and most of your meaning remains clear. Some grammatical errors nevertheless occur. In the introduction, “would make a huge population to opt” has an incorrect verb pattern; use “would lead many people to opt” or “would make many people opt.” In “these airlines also provides,” the plural subject requires “provide,” while “states invent … and invests” needs consistent agreement (“states … invest”). There are also article and number issues in phrases such as “in the peak seasons” and “from one place.” Review subject–verb agreement and verb patterns, and proofread long sentences to ensure that clauses are connected and punctuated clearly.
