IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future, more people will choose to go on holiday in their own country and not travel abroad on holiday. Do you agree or disagree?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Many people would like to travel for holidays in their own country rather than travelling internationally in upcoming years. I completely disagree with this statement because it enables people to explore different places and cultures and provides opportunities to learn new languages.
The primary reason why I disagree with this statement is that there are limited travelling destinations and varieties in people's own country. With the international exposure, people will be able to connect to new friends with different traditions, which are good opportunities to learn about new things and cultures. For example, many people can create new memeries with thier loved once in several tourist places around the world and at the same time connect with local people and traditions. Therefore, people will have vast exposure to explore new things in their life by having holidays in other nations.
Another reason why people will not travel only within their own country as they are always curious to explore new things and expand their horizens. If people earn considerble amount of money essepcially in the developed nations, they are more likey to spend on expensive brands and international travel. Apart from this, people are becoming aware of new travelling places with the use of social media nowadays, so there are more chances that they will expore those places in the future. Many people will always have need to travel different counties as their relatives and friends are living abroad.
In conclusion, I totally disagree that people will only travel in their own nation in the furture because there are several reasons to visit different places around the world than their own country such as new exposure, knowledge, memories and friends.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction and conclusion: you disagree that people will increasingly holiday only in their own country. You give relevant reasons, including cultural exposure, curiosity, social media, and visiting friends or relatives abroad. This covers the task well, and the example about meeting local people helps illustrate your main point. However, some ideas are asserted rather than fully explained. For instance, the claim that domestic destinations are limited is broad and would be stronger with a specific comparison or example. The point about people in developed nations spending on brands and travel is also not clearly linked to the future trend in the question. Develop these points with clearer cause-and-effect reasoning to make the response more consistently convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion that restates your view. Sequencing phrases such as “The primary reason,” “Another reason,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow. Some connections, however, feel mechanical, and a few references are not fully clear. In the first body paragraph, “With the international exposure” does not connect smoothly to the claim about limited domestic destinations, while “Therefore” introduces a conclusion that largely repeats the preceding idea. The second paragraph also moves quickly from income to social media and then to relatives abroad. Use more explicit links between each reason and your position, and organise related supporting details into a more continuous line of argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “international exposure,” “traditions,” “curious,” and “expand their horizons,” which helps communicate your ideas. There are also attempts at less common expressions, but several word-choice and collocation problems reduce precision: “limited travelling destinations and varieties,” “create new memories,” and “will always have need to travel” sound unnatural or unclear. Spelling errors such as “memeries,” “thier,” “horizens,” and “expore” are noticeable, as are forms such as “considerble” and “essepcially.” These do not prevent the reader from understanding the main argument, but they weaken fluency and accuracy. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations for travel, experiences, and personal connections.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including subordinate clauses such as “because it enables people…” and “as their relatives and friends are living abroad.” Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, and the overall argument remains understandable. Some grammatical errors persist, particularly in sentence construction and articles. For example, “Another reason why people will not travel only within their own country as…” is an incomplete construction; it needs a main clause, such as “Another reason is that people will not travel only within their own country.” In “will always have need to travel,” the article is missing, and “different counties” needs a plural form if referring to multiple countries. Aim to produce more consistently complete sentences and check article and plural use.
