Student answer (Band 5.0)

i totally disagree, because in my country lot of people choose to book a flight to travel abroad rather than domestic. Because it is cheaper, and travelling abroad is another great experience to try new places, cultures and foods. In my experience i travelled in Batanes Philippines last year and the expenses is same as i travelled in South Korea. The affordable ticket on batanes is 33,000 pesos and the plane ticket in Sout Korea is also Around 34,000. I dont know why travelling in batanes is more expensive than travelling in south korea. So for me i preferred travelling abroad for unique experience and learning. Meanwhile some of the foreigners enjoy to travel in our country, some of there is going in to boracay, palawan and siargao maybe because for them is more cheaper than to there country. If you decided to go in the Philippines i recommend to try you a famous delicacy of every province you visit. In the future someday if i have a lot money i want to explore my own country to see how beautiful it is. I want to go in different tourist attractions like beach ,mountain and laso some of the famous city. for now i enjoying travel outside of the Philippines to explore and study the history of different places or famous landmark. So think you need to experience both like travelling inside and outside of your country to see what is difference between the two and you can tell why the people travelling outside and inside the country.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear from the opening: you disagree that people will increasingly holiday at home, and you give a relevant comparison between travel costs to Batanes and South Korea. The examples of foreign visitors to Boracay, Palawan and Siargao, and your own wish to explore the Philippines, also relate to the topic. However, the response only partly develops the argument. The cost comparison is useful but does not explain why it predicts future choices, and the final suggestion that people should experience both domestic and overseas travel softens your stated disagreement. Develop one or two reasons in more depth and make the conclusion reinforce your position consistently, while acknowledging the opposing view if useful.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The response contains relevant points, but they are presented as one continuous block, so the reader has little help distinguishing the main argument, examples and conclusion. Connections such as “Meanwhile” and “So” are attempted, yet the ideas sometimes shift abruptly—for example, from your travel-cost comparison to advice for visitors, then to your future plans. The repeated use of “because” and “so” also makes the progression feel loose rather than clearly planned. Organise the response into paragraphs, each with one purpose: state your view and reasons, develop your personal comparison, consider domestic tourism, and conclude. Use clear references and transitions to show how each example supports your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “domestic,” “cultures,” “delicacy,” “tourist attractions” and “landmark.” These choices show some range beyond very basic travel terms. However, vocabulary is often repetitive or imprecise, particularly “travel,” “experience” and “famous,” and several phrases sound unnatural, such as “another great experience to try new places” and “the expenses is same.” Spelling and word-form slips, including “Sout Korea,” “laso” and “there” for “their,” also reduce clarity. Build a more precise set of travel expressions and check spelling and collocations; this will help you explain comparisons and reasons more naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with reasons and examples, so there is some variety. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors can make the reader pause. For example, “in my country lot of people choose” is missing an article, while “the expenses is same as i travelled” has problems with agreement and sentence structure. Tense and verb-form control is also inconsistent in “for now i enjoying travel,” and the final sentence beginning “So think you need” lacks a clear subject. Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent as well. Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a clearly attached supporting clause, then check articles, agreement and verb forms.
