Student answer (Band 5.5)

Yes, I would strongly agree to this statement. Basically, all countries has its own unique and colorful varieties, therefore, staying in once country would not only give comfort and necesities in travelling but also eleminates the barrier set by language, nativity, and home awareness. I storngly belive that being in your homeland during holidays gives you all the advantages of being with your family, friends and relatives. Holidays are also our time to spend and reconnect with our kins and special friends, therefore the more close we are to them, and the more time we spend together with them through our holidays are one of the key factors in strengthening our relationships.

I somehow disagree in traveling abroad during holidays for reasons that I myself can not afford to bring my whole family to travel at a very high cost in terms of fare, lodgings and other travelling expenses. I worked for my hard earned money not to give it away in just one holiday. I would rather save for winter seasons in life rather than spending a lavished one for just a couple of days.

Today's economy dictates us that we have to be mindfull in spending our money when it comes to leisures in life, therefor, traveling abroad must be stratigic and not frequent, but if you have extra money for travelling, why not.

I trully belive that staying and enjoying your homeland during the holiday's should be the most efficient and less expensive choice that a family of five like me could do.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the opening: you strongly agree that people will increasingly holiday at home. You give relevant reasons, including lower costs, familiarity, and time with family, and the example of being unable to afford an overseas trip for your family makes the financial point personal and relevant. However, the response develops the family and cost arguments more than the prediction in the prompt: it does not explain why more people in the future may make this choice, such as changing travel costs or preferences. The final qualification, “if you have extra money for travelling, why not,” also slightly softens your position without explaining how it fits your main view. Develop the future-focused reasoning and clarify this qualification.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable overall structure: it introduces your view, gives reasons in separate paragraphs, and ends by restating the preference for domestic holidays. The ideas are generally relevant and can be followed. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes repetitive: the first paragraph returns several times to closeness with family and relationships, while the later paragraphs repeat the point that overseas travel is expensive. Linking words such as “therefore” and “but” are used, but some connections feel mechanical or do not clearly show the relationship between ideas. For example, the final “but if you have extra money” needs a clearer link to your overall agreement. Organise each paragraph around one distinct reason and use more precise transitions.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “lodgings,” “travelling expenses,” “strengthening our relationships,” and “economy dictates,” and your meaning is generally understandable. However, the range is limited by repeated references to “traveling,” “holiday,” and “money,” and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear. “Colorful varieties” does not clearly describe what a country offers, and “home awareness” is difficult to interpret. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “necesities,” “eleminates,” “stratigic,” and “trully,” which reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise topic vocabulary and check spelling carefully; for instance, describe domestic attractions as “diverse landscapes and cultural experiences” rather than “colorful varieties.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including clauses joined with “therefore” and “but,” and the main message remains understandable. However, control is inconsistent, especially in longer sentences, and errors sometimes make relationships between ideas harder to follow. For example, “all countries has” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “the more close we are to them, and the more time we spend together … are one of the key factors” has an unclear and faulty sentence structure. “Staying in once country” also contains an incorrect form. Break long sentences into clearer units, check agreement and articles, and make sure each sentence has a clear subject and verb. This would improve accuracy while preserving your attempts at complex structures.
