In the future, more people will choose to go on holiday in their own country and not travel abroad on holiday. Do you agree or disagree?

Student answer (Band 6.5)
Tourism has become integral part of modern life, with people travelling to different destinations to enjoy their vacations, for relaxation, for recreation and cultural experiences. Some believe that domestic holiday will become more popular in comparison to international travel in future and it will gradually decline . Although travelling within one's own country has certain advantages, I do not entirely agree with this prediction as travelling overseas provide unique experiences and are becoming more affordable.
One reason why people will travel abroad is their desire to explore different cultures, traditions and lifestyles. Visiting foreign countries allows tourist to explore historical sites, taste authentic cuisines and interact people of diverse backgrounds . For instance , while living in Ontario one can visit Niagra falls and spend time with family there but travelling to France or Italy will be entirely a different experience. The narrow streets of france, cafe, museum, food will be entirely different experience
Another factor is that international travel has become more accessible and competitively priced. With more airlines, online booking platforms and holiday packages, the cost of travelling has become very cheap. So most of the people think that rather than spending money on a trip in one's own country they should go abroad . For example , a family living in Toronto might spend a big amount on accomodation, transportation and meals during a trip to Vancouver and when they compare the price they find that it may cost same for a holiday package to Mexico so their obvious choice will be Mexico.
Holidays within one's own country has several advantages , including convenience, better prices and shorter travel times. Although domestic tourism may grow, I do not believe it will be more popular than international travel.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear: you disagree that domestic holidays will become more popular than overseas travel, and you support this with two relevant reasons—cultural discovery and the growing affordability of international trips. The examples comparing Ontario with France or Italy, and Toronto with Vancouver or Mexico, help make the argument concrete. This meets the task well, while the acknowledgement that domestic tourism has advantages shows some balance. To develop the response further, explain more fully why these trends are likely to continue in the future, rather than mainly describing current benefits. The final paragraph’s point about domestic holidays is also brief; expanding it would make the comparison more complete and the argument more fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present supporting reasons, and a conclusion restates your position. The sequence from cultural experiences to affordability is logical, and phrases such as “One reason” and “Another factor” guide the reader. However, some connections are mechanical, and the final paragraph introduces domestic tourism’s advantages without explaining how they relate to your disagreement. The France and Italy example also ends with a series of details rather than a fully connected explanation. Use linking and referencing more naturally, and make the relationship between each example and your main claim explicit. This would strengthen progression and cohesion while preserving the clear paragraph structure already in place.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “cultural experiences,” “historical sites,” “diverse backgrounds,” “online booking platforms,” and “holiday packages.” These choices make the main ideas clear, and some phrases show an attempt to use more specific language. There are, however, several imprecise or awkward expressions, such as “the cost of travelling has become very cheap” and “spend a big amount,” as well as spelling errors including “Niagra” and “accomodation.” Some wording is also repetitive, particularly “entirely different experience.” Aim for more precise collocations and check spelling carefully. For example, describe travel as “more affordable” and use “a substantial amount” when discussing costs.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including the concession “Although travelling within one's own country has certain advantages” and the conditional comparison about a family choosing between Vancouver and Mexico. Meaning is generally clear, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “Tourism has become integral part” needs an article, while “international travel has become” is followed later by “travelling overseas provide,” where subject–verb agreement is inconsistent. There are also errors in “allows tourist to explore” and “interact people,” and punctuation spacing is inconsistent. Review articles, plural forms, agreement, and sentence punctuation. More accurate control of these patterns would make your varied sentence structures easier to read.
