Student answer (Band 6.5)

It is anticipated that in the long run, an increasing number of people will choose their own country as a holiday destination rather than travelling overseas for vacation. I completely agree with the above statement and reasons behind my agreement are explained in the following paragraph.

To begin with, many people have started realising that they are blindly following social media for choosing holiday destination and are missing on nearby beauties. For example, many citizens of India have visited casinos in LA but never went to see Taj Mahal, which is one of the seven wonders of the world. Additionally, rapidly increasing prices of air fares will also make people change their decision about vacation planning in the long run.

Moreover, we all know that, popular tourist destinations like Paris and Newyork have become overly expensive and home of nuisance over past few years. Hence, people are not only concerned about their budget but about their safety as well. Also, countries like Germany and the US have made the process of obtaining a visitor visa more difficult than ever, which is making people less interested in travelling abroad.

On the other hand, there will always be people who want to experience flying, enjoy the cuisine of other cultures, and meet new people. So we can't say for sure that the number of this kind of individuals are growing or not. But, recent trend and data suggest that in future, increasing number of people will enjoy their holidays locally rather than going to other countries.

To conclude, it can be said that, a huge number of individuals are switching their vacation destination from another country to their own country but there is a group of people who'd still be interested in travelling abroad.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

Your position is clear from the introduction, where you state that you “completely agree,” and the conclusion returns to the idea that more people will holiday locally. You support this view with relevant reasons, including rising airfares, the expense and safety concerns associated with overseas destinations, and more interest in nearby attractions. The Taj Mahal example helps make the point concrete. This addresses the task and develops the main argument, although some claims are broad—for example, that social-media users are “blindly following” trends—and the link between the example and a future increase in domestic holidays could be explained more fully. The counterpoint about people who enjoy other cultures is relevant, but its significance is not clearly weighed against your main position. Develop these connections and support general claims more precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two paragraphs supporting domestic holidays, a counterargument, and a conclusion. Ideas generally progress logically, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “Moreover,” and “On the other hand” help readers follow the argument. The conclusion also reflects the discussion rather than introducing a new point. Cohesion is sometimes a little mechanical, however, because several paragraphs rely on explicit transition phrases, and the first supporting paragraph combines social-media influence, local attractions, and airfares without fully showing how these points connect. The counterargument’s final sentence also shifts back to the main view rather abruptly. Use clearer links between each reason and the central claim, and vary transitions with more precise referencing to make the progression feel more seamless.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “holiday destination,” “visitor visa,” “tourist destinations,” and “overly expensive.” Some less common expressions are attempted, but several choices are inaccurate or unnatural: “missing on nearby beauties,” “home of nuisance,” and “switching their vacation destination from another country to their own country.” There are also spelling and form issues in “Newyork” and “air fares.” These do not prevent the reader from understanding your argument, but they limit precision and naturalness. Aim for more conventional collocations and check compound place names and word forms. For example, describe people as overlooking local attractions, destinations as crowded or affected by public-order problems, and travellers as choosing domestic rather than international holidays.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex structures, including clauses introduced by “which” and “rather than,” and most sentences communicate the intended meaning. Some grammatical errors remain. In “reasons behind my agreement are explained,” the article “the” is needed before “reasons”; “many citizens … have visited … but never went” shifts awkwardly between present perfect and past simple; and “the number of this kind of individuals are” has a subject–verb agreement error. Punctuation is also inconsistent, as in “we all know that, popular tourist destinations” and “it can be said that, a huge number.” These issues rarely impede understanding. To strengthen control, check agreement and tense consistency, and avoid commas between a reporting phrase and its clause.
