IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future, more people will choose to go on holiday in their own country and not travel abroad on holiday. Do you agree or disagree?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
Some people believe that in future feel more comfortable to spend their holidays in their own country rather than travelling abroad. I strongly disagree with this statement and discuss the reasons in body paragraph.
First and formost, future is unpredictable, no one can see the future, so it is very hard to say where most of the people like to spend their hoidays. But, I believe people would like to explore abroad more, because in past time air travel was too much expensive and most of the people could not able to afford it, nowadays they can easily travel to other countries due cheapest price of flights. Adding more into this, many business and companies offering their employees a foreign tour to achieve the target and can be a lucky winner for abroad trip. Furthermore, due to internet people are scrolling more instagram, facebook and youtube. They are watching a lot of stuff regarding new locations and new cities for exploring. It making them more curious about the outer world and they are planing to explore new country every year. Secondly, it can be seen that it is a trend to go abroard for further studies and be sattle down there. For example, many people from my village are already moved abroad for better opportunities, due unemployement in our country and their parents are also planning to move permanently there and it was all started because of easy availbily of visa's and shortage of employement in developed countries.
In conclusion, In future people may travel more to abroad countries due to cheap flights and for their interest in exploring new places rather than spending holidays in their own country.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you strongly disagree and conclude that people will increasingly travel abroad. You give relevant reasons, including cheaper flights, social media’s influence, and opportunities to study or work overseas, with a personal example about people from your village. This addresses the question, but the support is uneven. The discussion of social media is plausible but would benefit from a specific example of how it influences holiday choices. The point about studying, employment and families moving abroad is less directly connected to holiday travel, so explain more clearly how it supports your prediction about holidays. Develop the strongest reasons with clearer links to the question and more precise examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a main paragraph presenting reasons, and a conclusion that restates your view. Sequencing phrases such as “First and foremost,” “Furthermore,” and “Secondly” help signal the order of ideas. However, almost all supporting points are placed in one long body paragraph, so the shift from flight costs to social media and then migration is abrupt. Some links are also mechanical, and the introduction promises to “discuss the reasons in body paragraph,” which does not accurately describe the essay’s organisation. Use separate paragraphs for distinct reasons, and make the relationship between each example and your central prediction explicit. This would create clearer progression and more controlled cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use vocabulary relevant to travel and future choices, including “explore,” “foreign tour,” “locations,” and “opportunities.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “shortage of employment” and “easy availability of visas.” However, spelling errors and inaccurate word forms are noticeable, including “formost,” “hoidays,” “abroard,” “sattle,” and “availbily.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “spend their holidays in their own country” being contrasted with “travel more to abroad countries,” and “scrolling more Instagram.” These choices sometimes make the reader pause. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations for travel, employment and social media; aim for precise, natural phrasing rather than adding more ambitious vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, using clauses with “because,” “so,” and “rather than,” and your main position remains understandable. However, errors in sentence structure and verb forms occur in several places. For example, “Some people believe that in future feel more comfortable” lacks a clear subject and verb construction, while “It making them more curious” needs a finite verb. In “many people from my village are already moved abroad,” the verb form is incorrect, and “their parents are also planning to move permanently there and it was all started” creates an unclear tense relationship. Improve control by checking that each clause has a subject and correctly formed verb, and by keeping tense choices consistent. More accurate complex sentences would strengthen the response.
