Student answer (Band 6.5)

Travelling is one the most favourite hobbies of many people around the world. However, some believe that in the future people will only choose to spend holidays by travelling in their own country. I disagree with this point of view. I believe people will continue to visit international destinations for tourism.

In my opinion, humans have a curious nature. They like to explore new ventures and travel the world. It seems to me that, they will continue to do so in future as well. For example, Pakistan's northern areas is home to one of the most beautiful landscapes in the world. But if you want to explore skyscrapers and tall buildings you have to visit Dubai or USA. World is huge and full of surprises those who don't travel just sees one part of it.

Apart from tourist destinations there are many things to explore in this world. For instance, different places have different cultures. Many people admire different traditions and culture, so they travel to see them. I believe setting boundaries to travel will narrow your vision. You will be like a fish trapped in a pond who considers that pond her whole world and have no idea about the sea. World is a book those who don't travel reads only one page.

In conclusion, travel enthusiasts like to visit new places throughout the world and they will continue to do so in future. One cannot explore everything domestically in local tourist places. Curiosity has no boundaries so do the travelling.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction: you disagree that people will increasingly holiday only in their own country, and the conclusion maintains this view. You give relevant reasons, especially curiosity about unfamiliar places and interest in other cultures, and the contrast between Pakistan’s landscapes and Dubai or the USA helps illustrate the first point. This meets the task well, though the reasons are not equally developed: the cultural point is asserted rather than supported with a specific example, and the discussion focuses mainly on why people travel abroad rather than directly considering why domestic holidays might become more popular. To strengthen the response, address that opposing possibility and explain why it would not outweigh your reasons.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting distinct reasons, and a conclusion that restates your position. Ideas generally progress logically, and signposts such as “For example,” “Apart from,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the argument. Some connections are less smooth or precise, however. The transition from Pakistan’s landscapes to skyscrapers in Dubai or the USA is understandable but could be explained more explicitly, while “World is a book those who don’t travel reads only one page” joins two ideas without clear punctuation or linking. The repeated use of “I believe” and “For example/For instance” also makes cohesion somewhat formulaic. Use clearer links between claims and evidence, and vary how you introduce supporting points.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “tourist destinations,” “landscapes,” “traditions,” “boundaries,” and “curiosity,” which allows you to express your main ideas clearly. The metaphors of a fish in a pond and the world as a book add some variety and emphasis. There are also several imprecise or unnatural choices that limit flexibility: “one the most favourite hobbies” is awkward, “explore new ventures” does not naturally express discovering places, and “setting boundaries to travel” is unclear in this context. Some repetition of “travel,” “world,” and “places” could also be reduced. Aim for more precise collocations and use alternatives such as “overseas travel,” “international destinations,” and “experience local customs” where appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional phrasing (“if you want to explore…”) and a relative clause (“those who don’t travel…”). Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. Examples include the missing article in “World is huge,” the agreement error in “Pakistan’s northern areas is,” and the mismatched verb forms in “those who don’t travel just sees” and “those who don’t travel reads.” The sentence beginning “It seems to me that” also has an unnecessary comma before “they.” Review subject–verb agreement, articles, and punctuation, especially in longer sentences. More consistently accurate control of these features would make the argument easier to read while preserving your range of sentence structures.
