Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You state a partly agreeing position and give relevant reasons for preferring holidays at home, including family ties, festivals and the expense of overseas travel. However, the response addresses the question only partially: the opposing view begins with people wanting to visit dream destinations, but the explanation is cut off and there is no developed conclusion clarifying your overall position. The example about NRI students and workers is relevant, though it needs clearer explanation and support. The response also contains 219 words, below the required 250, so the discussion is too brief to develop both sides adequately. Extend the disagreement point with a specific example and finish by restating your view.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some organisation: an opening paragraph introduces your position, and the next paragraph develops reasons for domestic holidays. Signposting such as “To begin with” and “Moving further” helps indicate a change in direction. However, progression is limited because the final paragraph stops mid-idea, leaving the argument unfinished and without a conclusion. Several links are mechanical or unclear, including repeated “so” and “so thats why,” while the relationship between being busy, living far from parents and choosing a home-country holiday needs to be made more explicit. Use one clear topic sentence for each side, connect each reason to its consequence, and add a concluding paragraph to give the response a complete structure.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt some topic-related vocabulary, including “budget,” “middle class families,” “strengthen their bond,” and “tradition,” which helps communicate the main ideas. However, the range is limited and several spelling, word-form and collocation errors make the writing less clear, for example “holdiays,” “perfer,” “vactions,” “aboard” for “abroad,” and “travel aboard is very expansive.” Some expressions are also imprecise, such as “earn more bread and butter” and “number of dream place.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations and check spelling carefully. More precise phrases such as “overseas travel is expensive” and “visit their dream destinations” would make your points easier to understand and more appropriate for an IELTS essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with reasons, but the range is limited and complex constructions are often faulty. Examples include “every person wants enjoy,” “people choose to gone,” and “they would be spend,” where verb forms are not controlled. Agreement and sentence construction also cause problems in “they wants enjoy festival” and “there are few reason.” Punctuation and capitalisation are inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and full stops and abrupt sentence boundaries. These errors sometimes make the reader work to understand the intended meaning. Practise accurate patterns such as “people want to enjoy,” “choose to go,” and “they would spend,” then proofread each sentence for verbs, agreement and punctuation.
