Dear ....................................,
Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear John,
I hope you are doing well. I am delighted for you because you wanted to learn a new sport. I know it is challenging to choose sport which provides you body fitness, and excitement.
I would like to suggest you cricket because it is easy to learn as well as energy booster. Cricket is very popular sport and you can build career in it. Moreover, to play cricket needs body strength and stamina which you have.
I know one of the best centre who teaches the cricket. Furthermore, the coach will teach you from basic so, you will have not to worry about that. Most of the players who plays in this centre are playing for national and international teams.
For last year, I think to learn this sport but I don’t have any friend to joined with. However, we will join the centre together and learn more. It will be helpful for us.
I am waiting for your response.
Yours lovingly,
Prajakta

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response successfully addresses all three bullet points of the task. You recommend cricket, explain how to learn it by attending a specific centre with a coach, and suggest learning it together. The tone is appropriate for an email to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited; for instance, the explanation of why cricket is a good choice is a bit generic. To reach a higher band, you could provide more specific details about the benefits of the sport or the nature of the training centre to make the advice feel more personal and well-developed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The email is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each requirement, and a closing. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', and 'However' to link ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or forced. The paragraphing is generally appropriate, though the flow between the suggestion of the sport and the logistics of learning it could be smoother. The referencing is clear, and the overall structure allows the reader to follow your message without difficulty.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'challenging', 'stamina', and 'international teams'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'build career' (should be 'build a career') and 'one of the best centre' (should be 'centres'). While you attempt to use more specific vocabulary, some phrasing remains basic. To improve, focus on using more natural collocations and ensuring pluralization is consistent when using 'one of the...'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'choose sport' (missing article), 'who plays' (subject-verb agreement), and 'I think to learn' (incorrect tense/verb form). Additionally, 'you will have not to worry' is awkward phrasing. While these errors are noticeable, they do not impede communication. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and verb tenses in complex sentences.
