Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You recommended chess, explained how to learn it via an online platform, and suggested learning it together. The tone is appropriate for an email to a friend, and the purpose of the letter is clear throughout. To reach a higher band, you could expand slightly on the 'how to learn' section by mentioning specific resources or practice methods beyond just creating an account, which would provide more depth to your ideas. Overall, the response is well-focused and meets the requirements of the task effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The letter is logically organized with clear paragraphing. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the task, which helps the reader follow your ideas easily. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Also', and 'Once you know', which help to connect your sentences. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words. The referencing is generally clear, and the overall structure is appropriate for a friendly email format.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for this task. Phrases like 'valuable', 'enhance thinking abilities', and 'personal court' (though 'court' is technically incorrect for chess) show an attempt to use more specific language. There are some minor errors in word choice, such as 'identify as geniuses games' instead of 'known as a game for geniuses'. Additionally, 'time pass' is an informal collocation that could be improved. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, incorporating more precise collocations would elevate your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical slips, such as 'This could becaome' (spelling), 'You will not be thinking this sport as a time pass' (preposition error), and 'tell them I asked for thier blessings' (spelling). Punctuation is generally functional, though there are some comma splices and minor errors in sentence construction. Despite these errors, the meaning is never obscured, and the communication remains effective throughout the letter. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and preposition usage will help improve your accuracy.
