Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: recommending badminton, explaining how to learn it, and suggesting you both learn it together. The tone is appropriate for an informal email to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of how to learn the sport is a bit disjointed, and the suggestion to learn together could be more naturally integrated into the flow of the letter. To reach a higher band, ensure that your ideas are expanded with more detail and better connected to the context of the email.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The email is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your message. You use some basic cohesive devices like 'Firstly' and 'Even'. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel abrupt. For example, the jump from discussing the membership fee to the coach's guidance lacks a smooth connection. Additionally, the use of punctuation is inconsistent, which sometimes disrupts the logical progression of your ideas. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring consistent paragraph structure will help improve your score in this area.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message, including some idiomatic expressions like 'in the pink of health'. However, there are several spelling errors ('strecting', 'muscels', 'insutctors', 'togather', 'regstration') and some awkward collocations ('suggest you about new sport', 'take a off form'). These errors are noticeable and occasionally distract the reader, though they do not prevent the message from being understood. To improve, focus on mastering the spelling of common words and paying closer attention to how words are used together in natural English phrases.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Common issues include missing articles ('a new sport'), incorrect verb forms ('i love this game since from my childhood'), and punctuation errors (capitalization of 'i', 'monday'). While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the overall fluency of the writing. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, consistent capitalization, and the correct use of articles, which are essential for achieving a higher band score.
