Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all three bullet points of the task: it recommends football, explains how to learn it (joining an academy/practicing), and suggests learning it together. The tone is appropriate for an informal email to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the explanation of how to learn the sport is a bit disjointed, and the suggestion to learn together is repeated in the final paragraph. While the task is fully addressed, the depth of the response could be improved to better meet the requirements for a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as the repetitive use of 'So my friend' and 'I recommend for you'. The flow between sentences is sometimes interrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'Like our English task be both are learn football'. While the overall message is clear, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the occasional confusion in referencing (e.g., 'I write a letter to your help') prevent a higher score.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There are several spelling errors ('gland' instead of 'glad', 'prectice' instead of 'practice', 'cough' instead of 'coach') and word choice issues ('I'm also applies' instead of 'I am also applying'). The range of vocabulary is limited to basic, everyday language. To improve, you should focus on using more varied collocations and ensuring correct spelling of common words related to sports and learning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb tenses and subject-verb agreement, such as 'we both are learn' and 'your support help me'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas and periods. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic structures significantly impacts the clarity and flow of the writing. More attention to sentence construction and proofreading for basic errors is required.
