Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear Raman,
I hope you are doing well.
I am pleased that you asked my advise about learning a new sport.
Firstly, in my opinion, cricket is one the best games to learn because I know you love to watch cricket. Last time when we met You discussed about your interest in cricket since your childhood. So it might be easy to learn for you.
If I talk about learning then it is very interesting game. You can directly learn it by playing with friends or by joining any cricket academy . Moreover, there are also many online platforms, which provides adequate information about cricket.
I have one idea in my mind that we can learn this sport together. We will join a academy in our area namely Rahul cricket club. They provide each every equipment related to sport. Hence, we can learn it easily.
I hope you will like my advise.
Yours lovingly,
Vishal

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response covers all three bullet points of the task: recommending a sport (cricket), explaining how to learn it (academy/online), and suggesting learning together. The tone is appropriate for an email to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat basic. For instance, the suggestion to join a specific club is a good start, but the explanation of how to learn could be more detailed to fully satisfy the 'well-developed' requirement of higher bands. The response is clear and the purpose is consistent throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. Paragraphing is used to separate the different requirements of the prompt. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Moreover', and 'Hence' are used to link ideas, although some transitions feel slightly mechanical. The progression of ideas is easy to follow, and the referencing (e.g., 'this sport', 'they') is generally clear, ensuring the reader understands the connections between the sentences.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some minor errors in word choice, such as using 'advise' (a verb) instead of 'advice' (a noun) and 'each every' instead of 'each and every'. While the range is sufficient to communicate the message, it lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher bands. The use of 'adequate information' and 'namely' shows an attempt to use more formal vocabulary, which is appropriate for the context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'one the best games' (missing 'of'), 'Last time when we met You discussed about' (unnecessary 'about'), and 'a academy' (should be 'an academy'). While these errors are noticeable, they do not impede communication. The punctuation is generally correct, though the capitalization of 'You' in the middle of a sentence is an error. The control of grammar is sufficient for a 6.0 band.
