Dear ....................................,
Student answer (Band 7.5)
Dear Lakhvir,
Hey there! How are you? I just heard you want to learn a new sport. I'm here to help you no worries.
I think Badminton would be helpful for you as you're first time taking part in group activities. You can learn basic skills such as co-operation, co-ordination and teamwork. Plus, team members support each other if anyone feeling tired or nervous at any point.
Do you know there is a big community club nearby our street in Brampton? They provide one month free training to teach any sport for a beginner. You can join online on their website. They would also provide you a membership card based on your age.
I'm also joining this club next week. Can you wait till next week? Then we can join together and get a time to spend with other. One more thing, if we get a joint membership, then they would also provide a 20% discount for future classes. Happy to see you soon!
If you want to know anything else, let me know.
Take care,
Manisha.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 8.0
The response successfully addresses all three bullet points of the task. You recommended badminton, explained how to learn it through the local club, and suggested learning it together. The tone is appropriate for an email to a friend, and the purpose is clear throughout. To improve, you could provide more specific detail on why badminton is suitable for your friend beyond general group activity benefits, and perhaps elaborate slightly more on the 'how' aspect, such as mentioning the specific type of equipment or training sessions involved. Overall, the task is fully covered with a consistent and friendly tone.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The email is logically organized with clear paragraphing. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the prompt, which helps the reader follow your ideas easily. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Plus', 'Also', and 'One more thing' to link your sentences. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. To reach a higher band, try to vary your linking words and ensure that the flow between sentences is more natural. For example, instead of starting sentences with 'Plus' or 'Also' frequently, you could use more sophisticated connectors like 'Furthermore' or 'In addition to this'.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. Phrases like 'group activities', 'co-operation', and 'joint membership' are used correctly. There are some minor issues with word choice, such as 'nearby our street' (which should be 'near our street' or 'in our neighborhood') and 'get a time to spend with other' (which should be 'spend time with each other'). While these do not impede communication, they show a need for more precise collocation. Expanding your vocabulary to include more idiomatic expressions or varied adjectives would enhance the naturalness of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. Most of your sentences are clear and easy to understand. However, there are some grammatical slips, such as 'if anyone feeling tired' (should be 'if anyone is feeling tired') and 'provide one month free training' (should be 'provide one month of free training'). Punctuation is generally good, though there are minor errors in phrasing. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Increasing the use of more complex grammatical structures, such as conditional sentences or relative clauses, would help demonstrate a wider range of control.
