Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses all three bullet points: recommending cricket, explaining how to learn it, and suggesting learning together. However, the development of ideas is quite basic. The explanation of how to learn is limited to mentioning social media, and the description of the sport is somewhat disjointed and lacks the personal tone expected in an email to a friend. The task is addressed, but the content is underdeveloped and lacks the depth required for a higher band score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The email lacks clear paragraphing, which makes the structure feel cluttered. While there is a basic logical progression from the recommendation to the learning method and the final suggestion, the transitions between sentences are often abrupt or missing. The use of cohesive devices is very limited, and the overall organization is somewhat mechanical. To improve, you should use clear paragraph breaks for each main point and incorporate more linking words to connect your ideas smoothly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'most popular sports right now' and 'this is how its goes' are simplistic. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'mailing you regarding your new sport' (which sounds unnatural) and 'edge of the seat' (used incorrectly in this context). The range of vocabulary is sufficient to convey the basic message, but it lacks the precision and variety needed for a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('its become'), missing articles ('have a helmet'), and punctuation errors (e.g., 'u' instead of 'you', 'its' instead of 'it's'). Sentence structures are mostly simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence forms. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and punctuation significantly impacts the quality of the writing.
