Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response successfully addresses all three bullet points of the task. You recommend volleyball, explain how to learn it through local classes, and suggest learning it together. The tone is appropriate for an email to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat basic. For instance, the explanation of why volleyball is suitable is a bit repetitive, and the description of the classes could be more detailed to fully flesh out the advice. To reach a higher band, try to provide more specific details or personal anecdotes that make the recommendation feel more authentic and well-developed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is logically organized with clear paragraphing. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Moreover', and 'Furthermore' to transition between ideas. However, some of these transitions feel slightly mechanical or forced. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'In this sport both the skills will be useful', where it is not immediately obvious which skills you are referring to. Improving the flow between sentences by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer to their antecedents would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'flexibility', 'affordable', and 'adapt'. However, there are some issues with word choice and collocation. For example, 'volleyball sport' is redundant; it should simply be 'volleyball'. Similarly, 'tutor taught volleyball to the normal people' is unnatural; 'instructor' or 'coach' would be better than 'tutor', and 'general public' or 'beginners' would be more appropriate than 'normal people'. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing will help you achieve a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Common issues include article misuse (e.g., 'learn a volleyball'), sentence fragments (e.g., 'because, I have seen...'), and punctuation errors, such as starting sentences with lowercase letters after a period. Subject-verb agreement and tense consistency also need attention, such as 'tutor taught' instead of 'tutor teaches'. While these errors do not prevent the message from being understood, they are frequent enough to limit the score. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for punctuation will lead to significant improvement.
