Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
You have addressed all three bullet points of the task: recommending a sport (cricket), explaining how to learn it (joining an academy), and suggesting learning it together. The tone is generally appropriate for an email to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of how to learn the sport is quite brief, and the suggestion to learn together is integrated into the paragraph about the academy rather than being a distinct, well-developed point. To improve, ensure each requirement is expanded upon with more detail to fully satisfy the task requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The email is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes mechanical. For example, the transition between the introduction and the recommendation is abrupt. Some sentences are linked with basic conjunctions, but there is a lack of varied linking words to improve the flow. Additionally, the punctuation is inconsistent, particularly with spacing after commas and periods, which affects the overall readability of the text. Improving the use of transition signals would help create a smoother progression of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, but it is somewhat repetitive and contains several spelling errors (e.g., 'happinnes', 'sellect', 'bolwer', 'accademy', 'proffessional', 'teachniques'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. You rely on basic vocabulary to express your ideas. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider range of vocabulary related to sports and learning, and pay closer attention to the correct spelling of common words. Using more precise synonyms would also enhance the quality of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
You use a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('every sport... have its own', 'many other teenagers came there'), missing articles ('in cricket'), and awkward phrasing ('These factors are main point'). While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors indicate a lack of control over complex structures. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles before attempting more complex grammatical forms.
