Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points of the task: recommending a sport (cricket), explaining how to learn it, and suggesting you learn together. The tone is appropriate for an email to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the explanation of how to learn is a bit repetitive and lacks specific detail regarding the 'coaching' mentioned. While the purpose of the letter is clear, the content could be expanded with more descriptive language to better engage the reader and fully develop the suggestions provided.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, each focusing on a specific aspect of the prompt. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover' and 'During the weekend' to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel abrupt. For instance, the transition between the recommendation of cricket and the explanation of the kit could be smoother. The use of referencing is generally clear, but the overall structure would benefit from a more varied range of linking words to improve the natural progression of your argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your message, such as 'fascinated', 'suitable', and 'assist'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and minor errors, such as 'grasp about' instead of 'learn about' and 'show you a kit' instead of 'show you the equipment'. Some phrasing is slightly unnatural, which limits the precision of your communication. To reach a higher band, focus on using more natural collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing like 'basic things' and 'basic information'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'I am writing this letter to express my interest to teach you'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'I would recommanded'), and punctuation errors (e.g., the inconsistent capitalization of 'i'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. Increasing your control over basic sentence construction and proofreading for minor slips would significantly improve your score.
