Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response successfully addresses all three bullet points of the task. You recommend swimming, explain how to learn it through the new club, and suggest learning together. The tone is appropriate for an email to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat basic. For instance, the explanation of how to learn the sport could be more detailed, perhaps by mentioning specific class times or the nature of the training sessions. While the task is fully covered, the depth of the content is limited, which prevents it from reaching the highest bands. Overall, the message is clear and the purpose of the email is achieved.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The email is logically organized into paragraphs, each serving a specific purpose. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'As for', and 'Although' to connect ideas. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally a bit mechanical. For example, the transition between the mention of the club and the details about the pool could be smoother. Additionally, there are some minor issues with punctuation, such as the missing space after the exclamation mark in the first paragraph, which slightly affects the overall readability. The paragraphing is appropriate for the task type.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for this task, using terms like 'flexibility', 'strength', and 'enroll'. There are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'exports' instead of 'experts', and 'get adopt with' instead of 'adapt to'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do highlight a need for more precise vocabulary usage. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring that the words chosen fit the context of the sentence perfectly. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey your message clearly to your friend.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'who teaches' (should be 'who teach'), 'in our town' (correct), and 'in my schedual' (spelling error). There are also issues with subject-verb agreement and article usage. While these errors are noticeable, they do not prevent the reader from understanding your message. To reach a higher band, focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring consistent verb tense usage throughout the email.
