Dear ....................................,
Student answer (Band 4.0)
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to bring to your concern regarding some amenities which are few at the place where i moved just recent.
The one issue related to the fitness center, where only few machines are properly working as it is hard for the individuals to manage at the same time. The another problem is regarding the public park, there is no any sitting facility for the old people.
I would suggest that more electrical machines should be provided in the gym so that everyone should get advantage of the fitness facility. Another suggestion is to provide few benches in the local park as it would be helpful for the elderly people to spend their free time.
The overall situation can be improved with the help of the residents. If these facilities are launched, there will be more benefits for the local community, as individuals are able to get advantage of these facilities.
I hope to receiving a prompt response at the earliest.
Kind regards,
Parwinder kaur

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 1.0
The response fails to address the task instructions entirely. The prompt required an email to a friend recommending a sport, explaining how to learn it, and suggesting learning it together. Instead, the student wrote a formal letter of complaint to a local authority regarding gym and park facilities. Because the response is completely off-topic and ignores all three bullet points of the prompt, it cannot be assessed as a successful completion of the task. It does not address the persona (friend) or the subject matter (sport).
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The letter is structured with clear paragraphing, which is a positive feature. There is a logical progression of ideas within the context of a complaint letter, using transition words like 'The one issue', 'The another problem', and 'Another suggestion'. However, because the content is entirely irrelevant to the prompt, the coherence is undermined by the lack of relevance to the task. While the internal structure of the complaint is logical, it does not fulfill the requirements of the task prompt.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is adequate for a basic complaint letter but lacks the range required for higher bands. There are several awkward collocations and errors, such as 'few at the place where i moved just recent' (should be 'recently') and 'no any sitting facility'. The vocabulary is repetitive and lacks the flexibility or precision needed to convey complex ideas. It is sufficient for basic communication but does not demonstrate a wide range of vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'I am writing to bring to your concern' (should be 'bring to your attention'), 'where only few machines are properly working as it is hard for the individuals to manage at the same time', and 'I hope to receiving' (should be 'I hope to receive'). These errors are frequent and occasionally impede the clarity of the intended message.
