Dear ....................................,
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Shivika,
It's been a long time since we last spoke. I saw your email regarding the learning of some different sport and you want my advice regarding that.
I would suggest you to play basketball, as you have a good height and already have experience in volleyball. Furthermore, in that player should be very fit and which is plus point because your'e already have a good health.
Additionally, there is very professional coach for this sport who can give you classes for this in very cheap rate. Furthermore, they will take you on tournaments in other cities if you did a good job.
However, I am also thinking to join this sport as I used to play this game in my high school. In addition, I still remember the rules of games. So it will be easy for you too. I will talk to coach regarding both of us, if you say so .
Hope to hear from you soon
Love,
Isha Goyal

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You recommended basketball, explained how to learn it via a professional coach, and suggested learning it together. The tone is appropriate for an email to a friend. To improve, you could provide more specific detail in the 'how to learn' section, such as mentioning the frequency of classes or the location of the training facility, to fully develop your ideas and reach a higher band level.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The email is logically organized with clear paragraphing for each point. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'Additionally', and 'However' to link ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes slightly mechanical or repetitive. For instance, starting two consecutive paragraphs with 'Furthermore' makes the flow feel a bit stiff. Improving the variety of your linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'tournaments' and 'professional coach'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'learning of some different sport' (learning a new sport) and 'in very cheap rate' (at a very reasonable rate). Expanding your vocabulary to include more natural collocations and idiomatic expressions would help you achieve a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'in that player should be very fit' (where the player should be fit), 'your'e already have' (you already have), and 'I am also thinking to join' (I am also thinking of joining). While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions will significantly improve your accuracy.
