Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response successfully addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly recommend swimming, explain how to learn it through local schools, and propose learning together. The tone is appropriate for an email to a friend. The ideas are well-developed, particularly the benefits of the sport and the plan for joint lessons. To reach a higher band, ensure that all explanations are grammatically precise, as some minor errors in phrasing (e.g., 'a swimming') slightly detract from the professional presentation of your ideas. Overall, the task is fully covered with a clear and friendly purpose.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The email is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each requirement, and a closing. You use cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Apart from that', and 'Additionally' to link your ideas. While the flow is generally good, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. For instance, the connection between the swimming schools and the suggestion to compete could be smoother. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate the different requirements of the task, which helps the reader follow your argument easily. The progression of ideas is logical throughout the letter.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'mind-body coordination', 'lung capacity', and 'flexibility'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'a swimming' (should be 'swimming' or 'a swimming course') and 'promote you to take part' (should be 'encourage you'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over collocations. To improve, focus on using articles correctly with nouns and ensuring that verbs match the intended meaning in a natural way.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'There are a plenty of swimming schools available in my town, which provides you one week training course'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement ('schools... which provides') and article usage ('a swimming', 'the swimming sports'). While these errors are noticeable, they do not prevent the reader from understanding your message. To achieve a higher band, you should aim for more error-free sentences and pay closer attention to pluralization and the correct use of articles before nouns.
