Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
You have addressed all three bullet points: recommending a sport, explaining how to learn it, and suggesting you learn together. However, the response is slightly under the 150-word minimum, which impacts the score. While the ideas are relevant, they are somewhat underdeveloped. For instance, the explanation of how to learn the sport is limited to mentioning a local school and a coach. To achieve a higher band, you should expand on these points with more detail, such as describing the training schedule or the benefits of the specific swimming program. The tone is appropriate for an email to a friend, but the brevity prevents a more thorough development of the ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The email is generally easy to follow, but it lacks paragraphing, which is essential for organizing ideas clearly. The sentences are linked using basic conjunctions like 'and' or 'so', which makes the flow feel a bit repetitive. There is a lack of varied cohesive devices to connect your ideas more fluidly. To improve, you should separate your introduction, the body paragraphs (one for each bullet point), and your closing into distinct paragraphs. Using a wider range of linking words, such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in addition', would help create a more logical progression of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is sufficient to communicate your message, but it is quite basic and repetitive. You use simple descriptors like 'very happy', 'very beneficial', and 'very perfect'. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'very cheapest' (which should be 'the cheapest') and 'new support' (which should be 'new sport'). To improve, try to use more precise adjectives and avoid overusing 'very'. Expanding your vocabulary to include more natural collocations related to sports and learning would significantly enhance your writing and help you move into a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede the flow. Examples include 'i am very happy with it which you want my suggestion' (which should be 'I am very happy that you asked for my suggestion') and 'we also can discuss about our weakness' (which should be 'we can discuss our weaknesses'). You rely mostly on simple sentence structures. To improve, you need to work on subject-verb agreement, correct preposition usage, and sentence variety. Incorporating more complex sentence structures, such as using relative clauses or conditional sentences, would demonstrate better control over English grammar.
