Dear ....................................,
Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear Mitali,
I hope you are doing well. I am happy to hear that you want to learn a new sport and need my suggestions for it.
It would be comfortable for you to join swimming during your leisure time. It is one of the best exercises for your body and life-saving skill. Moreover, doing swimming will improve your flexibility, strengthen your back and core muscles and increase your lung capacity over time. Additionally, swimming would be ideal for you in order to get relief from hot summer days and keep yourself active and fit.
In my town, there are plenty of swimming schools available, who provide basic seven-days training, course completion certificate and encourage their students for the national and international swimming competitions. Also, after completing the swimming course, you will be able to do swimming independently without someone's supervision.
It would be beneficial if we both join swimming classes together for spending some time and create some beautiful memories. Additionally, I will teach you advanced swimming methods during spare time in order to improve your swimming skill. Please let me know about your schedule, so I can enroll our names in one of the best swimming academies.
I hope my suggestions will help you to take correct decision about learning a new sports. I look forward to your positive response in this matter.
Best regards,
Twinkle

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 8.0
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You recommended swimming, provided a clear explanation of how to learn it by mentioning local swimming schools and their training programs, and effectively suggested learning it together. The tone is appropriate for an email to a friend, and the purpose of the letter is clear from the beginning. The ideas are well-developed and relevant to the task requirements. To reach a higher band, ensure that all advice is fully integrated into the narrative flow of the email, as some sections feel slightly like a list of features rather than a personal recommendation.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The email is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each requirement, and a polite closing. You have used a variety of cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Additionally', and 'Also' to link your ideas. While the progression of ideas is generally smooth, the use of some cohesive devices feels slightly mechanical or repetitive. For instance, starting multiple sentences with 'Additionally' makes the flow feel a bit predictable. Improving the variety of transition words and ensuring that referencing is more natural would help elevate this score further.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for this task. You use some good collocations like 'leisure time', 'lung capacity', and 'course completion certificate'. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'It would be comfortable for you to join swimming' (a more natural choice would be 'It would be a great idea' or 'You might enjoy'). Additionally, 'enroll our names' is slightly unnatural; 'enroll us' or 'sign us up' would be more idiomatic. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, but lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are some grammatical slips, such as 'there are plenty of swimming schools available, who provide' (should be 'which provide' as you are referring to schools, not people) and 'take correct decision' (should be 'take the correct decision'). You also have minor issues with articles and prepositions, such as 'during spare time' (should be 'in our spare time'). Despite these errors, your meaning is always clear, and the errors do not impede communication.
