Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Shally,
I hope you are doing well, I am so glad that choose me as an advisor for you. I am really happy to know that you want to learn a new sport. I think you should surely go for a soccer. As you always mention that you want to learn playing soccer so that will be best for you. Because you have a will to learn that which makes it easy for you. Side by side you are quick learner and fast runner which make you capable for this sport.
The best way to learn this is joining a sports academy. My friend is a coach of soccer at RAAB academy. I will talk to him about you. Additionally you can start basics by learning some tips and tricks from You tube which is very beneficial for you as well.
Lately, I am also thinking about leaning something new to keep by body fit. soccer is great sport to learn . especially when i am having a company like you. i think if we start learning this together it will be a more fun. we can also strengthen our bond.
I hope i catch you soon at practice.
your lovingly,
Simran

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: recommending a sport (soccer), explaining how to learn it (academy and YouTube), and suggesting you learn it together. The tone is appropriate for an informal email to a friend. The ideas are relevant and clearly presented, though they could be developed slightly more to reach a higher band. For instance, you could have elaborated on why soccer is particularly suitable for your friend's personality or fitness level. Overall, the response is well-structured and fully satisfies the requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The email is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific part of the prompt. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Additionally' and 'Lately' to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes a bit mechanical, and there are occasional issues with referencing and punctuation that slightly disrupt the natural progression of the text. For example, the transition between the recommendation and the learning method could be smoother. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring consistent paragraph structure will help elevate your score in this criterion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for this task, using words like 'beneficial', 'capable', and 'strengthen'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'go for a soccer' (should be 'go for soccer') and 'leaning something new' (should be 'learning'). Additionally, there are some minor spelling and capitalization errors, such as 'You tube' and 'i' instead of 'I'. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more attention to detail and a wider variety of natural collocations to reach a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this level. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('a soccer'), subject-verb agreement ('you always mention that you want to learn playing soccer'), and punctuation (missing commas and incorrect capitalization). Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'which make you capable for this sport'. While the meaning is always clear, the frequency of these minor errors prevents a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical rules and sentence construction will significantly improve your accuracy.
