Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response successfully addresses all three bullet points of the task. You recommend badminton, explain how to learn it through local clubs and online resources, and suggest learning together. The tone is appropriate for an email to a friend. The ideas are relevant and clearly presented. To reach a higher band, you could expand slightly more on the benefits of the sport or provide more specific details about the local club to make the advice feel more personalised and fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'For beginning', and 'Apart from this' to link your thoughts. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'For beginning'. Additionally, the punctuation around your cohesive devices needs attention; for example, there is a missing space after the period in 'fit. It' and 'racket , also'. Improving the flow between sentences and ensuring consistent spacing would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You use a range of vocabulary appropriate for a friendly email, such as 'engaged', 'familiar', and 'shuttle cock'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'making good grasp on this game' (should be 'getting a good grasp of') and 'it will also beneficial' (missing the verb 'be'). While the vocabulary is adequate to convey your message clearly, it lacks the more sophisticated or idiomatic expressions that would characterise a higher band score. Focus on using more natural collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'learn new sport' (missing article 'a'), 'you will became familiar' (incorrect tense, should be 'become'), and 'what are the rules of the game' (which is a statement, not a question, so the word order should be 'what the rules of the game are'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly regarding spacing after periods and commas. While these errors do not prevent understanding, they occur frequently enough to limit the score.
