You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Begin your letter as follows:

Dear ....................................,

Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Kylie,

Hope you are in radiant health and high spirit. I am writing this letter in response to your advice regarding learning new game.

I would really like to recommend you to gain some learing about the badminton sport out of all the sports as it will help to enhance your fitness and reduce some weight as well for which you are really worried.

On top of that, a sports academy is located near to your home place so you can purchase the membership which is not too costly and could visit the academy whenever you get time.

Additionally, I would also like to join you because i always had a keen interest in learning badminton. Though, I used to play it with my siblings in the childhood, however, I just know the basics of this sport. It would be really helpful for me to maintain my health.

Hope that you would take my suggestion into consideration.

Yours lovingly,

Jagroop Ghuman.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response successfully addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly recommend badminton, explain how to learn it by mentioning the local sports academy, and propose learning it together. The tone is appropriate for an email to a friend. The ideas are relevant and well-developed, providing enough detail to satisfy the task requirements. The purpose of the letter is clear from the beginning, and the closing is appropriate for the informal context.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The letter is logically organized with clear paragraphing. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the task. You use cohesive devices such as 'On top of that' and 'Additionally' to link your ideas. However, the transition 'Though, I used to play it with my siblings in the childhood, however,' is slightly awkward due to the double use of contrastive conjunctions. Overall, the progression of ideas is easy to follow, and the structure is appropriate for a semi-formal or informal email.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary for the task. Phrases like 'radiant health' and 'keen interest' are used effectively. There are some minor issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'learning a new game' (should be 'sport') and 'home place' (which is redundant). Additionally, 'badminton sport' is slightly unnatural; simply 'badminton' is sufficient. Despite these minor inaccuracies, the vocabulary is adequate to convey your meaning clearly throughout the email.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are some grammatical errors, such as 'I am writing this letter in response to your advice regarding learning new game' (missing an article) and 'in the childhood' (should be 'in my childhood'). The use of 'i' instead of 'I' is a recurring error. While these errors are noticeable, they do not impede communication. To reach a higher band, focus on consistent article usage and ensuring all pronouns are correctly capitalized.
