Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You recommended badminton, explained how to learn it by mentioning the new sports center and coaching, and suggested learning it together. The tone is appropriate for an email to a friend, maintaining a friendly and informal style throughout. The ideas are relevant and clearly presented, ensuring the reader understands your purpose immediately. To improve, you could provide slightly more detail on why badminton is a great choice, perhaps by mentioning the social benefits or the specific health advantages, which would further develop your ideas and demonstrate a higher level of engagement with the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The email is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each point, and a closing. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Apart from this', and 'Furthermore' to link your ideas. While these are effective, the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that the transition between sentences feels more natural. For instance, the jump between discussing the sports center and the proximity of the house could be smoothed out. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate, and the message is easy to follow from start to finish.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for this task, such as 'flexibility', 'techniques', and 'prompt response'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'rely popular' (should be 'really popular'), 'warry' (spelling error for 'worry'), and 'Yours bestie' (which is non-standard). To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring correct spelling. While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, incorporating more sophisticated or idiomatic expressions would enhance the naturalness of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'this game required' (should be 'requires'), 'there is new sport center open' (should be 'a new sports center has opened'), and 'no need to warry' (missing subject/verb). While these errors are noticeable, they do not impede communication. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and article usage. Increasing your control over complex sentence structures and proofreading for minor slips will help you achieve a higher score in this criterion.
