Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Vasu,
How are you? I hope you and your family are doing well. I was really glad that you have asked me for advice to learn a new sport.
Other day, we had a discussion about cricket world cup. I noticed that you have great interest in the game. When I recieved your letter, it immidiately clicked in my mind to suggest you to start learing cricket.
I did some research about it and I found the renowned Cricket acedamy in our town. It managed by the famous cricketer of our area, Harmeet Singh. They have pretty flexible timing all week. You can simply visit and register youself or you can do registration online.
As this academy is in town, I can also join you and we can learn new sport together. This will help us in traing session and can have discusssion about the cricket during our free time. With the help of this we can catch up every weekend
I am looking forward to starting traing session with you and make new memories. let me know what you think.
see you soon

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You recommended cricket, explained how to join the academy, and proposed learning it together. The tone is appropriate for an informal email to a friend. The ideas are relevant and clearly presented, though they could be developed slightly more to reach a higher band. For instance, you could have elaborated on why you think cricket would be a good fit for your friend specifically, rather than just mentioning their interest. Overall, the task is fully covered, and the purpose of the email is clear throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The email is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the task, which helps the reader follow your ideas easily. You use some cohesive devices like 'As this academy is in town' and 'With the help of this', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical. The paragraphing is appropriate for an informal letter. To improve, try to use a wider variety of linking words to connect your sentences more fluidly, as some transitions are currently quite simple.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for this task, such as 'renowned', 'flexible', and 'register'. However, there are several spelling errors that detract from the quality of your writing, such as 'recieved', 'immidiately', 'learing', 'acedamy', and 'traing'. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on proofreading your work for common spelling mistakes and try to incorporate more natural collocations related to sports and hobbies to show a more flexible range of vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is good. However, there are several grammatical inaccuracies, such as 'you have asked me for advice to learn' (should be 'on learning'), 'It managed by' (missing 'is'), and 'register youself' (should be 'yourself'). Additionally, there are some punctuation and capitalization issues, such as 'let me know' starting with a lowercase letter. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they occur frequently enough to indicate that you need to pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and sentence construction.
