Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You recommended Muay Thai, explained how to learn it by mentioning a training center and a special offer, and suggested learning it together. The tone is appropriate for an email to a friend. To improve, ensure you provide more descriptive detail in your explanations. For example, instead of just saying it is a 'material art fighting', you could briefly describe the atmosphere of the gym or the benefits of the sport to make your suggestion more persuasive and fully developed, which would help you reach a higher band score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The email is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'As I remember' and 'Now, it is time for you to'. However, the flow between some sentences is slightly mechanical. For instance, the transition between discussing your friend's interest in culture and the recommendation of Muay Thai could be smoother. Additionally, ensure that your paragraphing is consistent; currently, the structure is functional, but using more varied linking words would improve the overall cohesion of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'grateful', 'coordination', and 'reasonable price'. However, there are several instances of inaccurate word choice and collocation, such as 'material art fighting' (martial art), 'use a lot of physical' (physical effort), and 'stay focus' (stay focused). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit your score. To improve, focus on learning the correct collocations for common phrases and proofreading for word forms, such as using 'challenging' instead of 'challenge'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'recommend you our traditional sport' (recommend our traditional sport to you), 'interested in learn' (interested in learning), and 'no need any tools' (there is no need for any tools). There are also some punctuation and article usage issues. To reach a higher band, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions and gerunds after prepositions. Increasing the number of error-free sentences will significantly improve your score.
