Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response addresses all three bullet points: recommending a sport, explaining how to learn it, and suggesting learning together. However, the response is significantly under the 150-word minimum requirement, which severely limits the development of ideas. The content is very brief and lacks the necessary detail to fully satisfy the task requirements. To improve, you must expand on your ideas by providing more context, descriptive language, and a more natural email structure. Because the response is only 85 words, it fails to meet the length requirement, which is a significant negative factor in task achievement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The email is very short and lacks clear paragraphing. While there is a basic attempt to connect ideas using 'plus' and 'actually', the overall structure is fragmented. The lack of proper sentence boundaries and the absence of a clear opening and closing structure (beyond 'Dear' and 'With love') make the flow feel disjointed. To improve, you should organize your response into distinct paragraphs for each bullet point and use a wider range of cohesive devices to link your sentences more naturally.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite basic and repetitive, such as the repeated use of 'club' and 'sport'. There are also informal choices like 'u' instead of 'you' and 'thats' instead of 'that is'. The range of vocabulary is limited, which prevents you from expressing your ideas with precision or sophistication. To achieve a higher score, you should aim to use more varied and precise vocabulary related to sports and learning, and avoid informal text-speak abbreviations, which are inappropriate for an IELTS writing task.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including missing articles (e.g., 'join the club of swimming'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'that sport make you'), and punctuation issues (e.g., run-on sentences and missing apostrophes in 'thats'). The sentence structures are mostly simple, and the lack of control over basic grammar significantly impacts readability. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, proper punctuation, and using a mix of simple and complex sentence structures while ensuring accuracy.
