Dear ....................................,
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Mantra,
I hope you're doing well. I was glad when I heard that your are looking for learning a new sport. It would be great, if I could help in selection.
As you are quite fit, healthy and have good stabilty on your body, learning a tennis would be great for you. Tennis is a enjoyable, easy to learn and quite relaxing game. It is also a great way to keep active and fit.
One of the best way to learn tennis is by joining a local sports club or taking a begineer lessons at community center. You should also take idead about sport by watching videos online. So you can get idea about techniques and strategies and with regular practice you can improve your game.
In fact, I have been thinking about to get enrolled for tennis sessions for long time. Why don't we learn together? We could attend the same beginner classes at community center and helps to keep motivate eachother.
Let me know what you think. I hope we can start soon.
Best regards,
Neel Mistry.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You recommended tennis, explained how to learn it through local clubs or online resources, and proposed learning together. The tone is appropriate for an email to a friend, and the purpose of the letter is clear throughout. The ideas are relevant and sufficiently developed to meet the requirements of the task. To reach a higher band, ensure that your explanations are slightly more detailed; for example, you could have elaborated on why tennis specifically suits your friend's personality or physical fitness beyond just mentioning stability.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The email is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each requirement, and a closing. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate the different points. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In fact' and 'As you are', which help the flow of ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as 'take idead about sport', which disrupts the flow. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would help elevate this score.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'techniques', 'strategies', and 'enrolled'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and spelling mistakes, such as 'stabilty' instead of 'stability', 'begineer' instead of 'beginner', and 'idead' instead of 'ideas'. Additionally, the phrase 'learning a tennis' is grammatically incorrect as 'tennis' is an uncountable noun in this context. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a wider range of precise vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'I have been thinking about to get enrolled...'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including 'your are looking for learning' (should be 'you are looking to learn') and 'helps to keep motivate eachother' (should be 'help to keep each other motivated'). The use of articles and prepositions is also inconsistent. While the meaning remains clear, the frequency of these errors prevents a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of infinitives versus gerunds will significantly improve your accuracy.
