Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all three bullet points of the task: recommending a sport (badminton), explaining how to learn it (joining a stadium with a trainer), and suggesting you learn together. The tone is appropriate for an informal email to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. For example, the comment about boys and girls not liking badminton is irrelevant and slightly confusing in this context. To improve, focus on providing more practical details about the learning process or the benefits of the sport rather than including unnecessary generalizations. Overall, the task is fulfilled, but the content could be more focused and coherent.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The email is organized into logical sections, and the progression of ideas is generally clear. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'Nevertheless', and 'Firstly'. However, some of these are used incorrectly or mechanically. For instance, 'Nevertheless' is used to introduce a list of equipment, which is not the correct logical function for that transition. Additionally, the paragraphing is quite limited; the entire body of the email is one long paragraph, which makes it harder to follow. Using distinct paragraphs for each bullet point would significantly improve the structure and readability of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for this task, using words like 'mandatory', 'vital', and 'register'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors. For example, 'deliberately' is used incorrectly in the context of enjoying a sport, and 'you may problem need it' is grammatically and lexically incorrect. There is also a slight issue with word forms, such as 'encourage to learn' instead of 'encourage you to learn'. To reach a higher band, focus on using collocations more accurately and ensuring that your word choices fit the natural flow of the sentence.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'I am writing you this letter to recommend you encourage to learn', 'visit to the huge badminton stadium', and 'I knew one which was recommended'. These errors, while not preventing communication, occur frequently enough to impact the overall fluency. You should focus on subject-verb agreement, correct preposition usage, and ensuring that your complex sentences are constructed accurately. Proofreading for basic sentence structure errors would help improve your score in this criterion.
