Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to address the core prompt requirements accurately. The task specifically asks you to recommend a new 'sport', explain how to learn it, and suggest learning it together. Instead, your letter discusses learning the 'german language' at an institute, which misunderstands the topic of sports entirely. Furthermore, the response is under the required word count, containing only 130 words compared to the minimum of 150 words. Because the topic of a sport was entirely missed and the length requirement was not met, the task achievement is severely impacted, corresponding to a band score of 4.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The letter lacks logical progression and clear paragraphing. Sentences such as 'Please save it all the details what i searched for you' are disjointed and difficult to follow. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or omitted entirely, making the flow unnatural. The transition between sentences feels abrupt, and referencing is sometimes unclear, such as 'I will attach website detail.' While the letter has a basic greeting and sign-off suitable for an informal email, the overall structural organisation prevents it from achieving a higher band. This performance aligns with band 5.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is very basic and repetitive, such as 'good', 'institute', 'details', and 'information'. There are noticeable word choice errors, such as asking a friend to 'save it all the details' and thanking them for 'asking a reference' instead of asking for a reference. The confusion between a sport and a language also limits the appropriateness of the vocabulary. While the language is simple enough to convey the basic idea of a recommendation, the lexical range is restricted and contains errors that cause some difficulty for the reader, fitting band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a very limited range of grammatical structures. There is a frequent use of comma splices and run-on sentences, such as 'How are you,I hope you are doing good.' and 'One of my cousine completed and she scored high mark in german.' Other errors include missing articles ('detail' instead of 'details'), spelling mistakes ('cousine' instead of 'cousin'), and incorrect capitalization of proper nouns like 'german'. The majority of sentences contain grammatical slips, which places this response at band 5.0.
