Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Mona,
I hope you are doing well and surrounded by positivity. Since you have asked me about an advice regarding a new sport which you want to learn in my our town. Because of that I am writing this letter to you.
Dearie, I would like to recommend a sport that is football because I am playing this game since two years and it benefited me a lot. Also, you physique and stamina will get better after playing this specific sport. Moreover, it will aide you to concentrate better in your work as well as in your studies.
Mate, to learn this sport, you need to join the GTX club situated near my home which is known for its perfection and the coach Mr. Smith is also perfectionist in this field.
Honey, I would love to give a suggestion that we should join this club together so we can learn together and get fit in our life.
I personally think that this will be fun and exciting.
Love to see you soon!
With love,
Venus

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response successfully covers all bullet points required by the prompt. You have recommended football as a suitable sport for your friend, explained how she can learn it by joining the GTX club and training under coach Mr. Smith, and suggested that you both learn it together. The tone is informal and friendly, appropriate for an email to a friend. However, some ideas are slightly under-developed, and the opening contains a redundant explanation ("Since you have asked me about an advice... Because of that I am writing this letter to you"). Overall, the requirements of the task are well addressed, earning a solid Band 6.5.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The email has a clear overall arrangement and follows an appropriate structure for a personal letter, starting with a friendly greeting and closing naturally. Paragraphing is used to separate different ideas, such as the recommendation, the explanation of how to learn it, and the joint suggestion. However, logical progression is occasionally disrupted by repetitive phrasing and minor cohesion flaws, such as "Because of that I am writing this letter to you," which feels a bit unnatural in an informal email. Cohesive devices like "Also" and "Moreover" are used, but referencing could be smoother. These aspects place the response firmly in the Band 6 category.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully using terms such as "physique," "stamina," "concentrate," and "perfectionist." However, there are notable lexical errors and unnatural collocations that prevent a higher score. For instance, "an advice" is grammatically incorrect since advice is uncountable, and "playing this game since two years" uses the wrong preposition. Additionally, using terms of endearment like "Dearie" and "Honey" repeatedly sounds somewhat unnatural in this context. Despite these flaws, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, warranting a Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as conditional and subordinate clauses ("Since you have asked me...", "...so we can learn together..."). However, there are several grammatical errors throughout the text. Notable examples include "an advice regarding a new sport which you want to learn in my our town" (article and pronoun errors), "I am playing this game since two years" (incorrect tense and preposition, should be present perfect continuous with 'for'), and "aide you" (spelling and usage, should be 'aid'). While these errors are noticeable and require some effort from the reader to interpret, they do not completely impede communication. This aligns with the Band 5.5 descriptors.
