Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response successfully covers all three bullet points required in the prompt. You clearly recommended a new sport by stating, 'I recommend a new sport which you may also deserve is cricket.' You explained how your friend could learn this sport by mentioning the four essential steps: 'Basically in cricket there are 4 essential steps to learn like Bowling, Bating, Fielding and keepering' as well as suggesting they purchase a cricket kit. Finally, you successfully suggested learning it together: 'we will take the training together.' All parts of the task are addressed, and the purpose of the letter is clear, although some of the ideas are slightly underdeveloped due to limited elaboration. Therefore, a band score of 6.0 is appropriate.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The letter demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear purpose and appropriate opening and closing salutations. However, paragraphing is somewhat inadequate, as the body of the letter is condensed into a single dense block of text rather than being broken down into logical paragraphs for each point. Cohesive devices are used, but they are sometimes mechanical or awkwardly placed, such as 'As i receive this message from you' or 'Although, In the begining you should work hard'. Referencing is generally clear, but the lack of proper paragraph breaks impacts the overall flow and organizational structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing you to convey basic ideas about cricket, training, and equipment (e.g., 'cricket kit', 'wooden bat', 'helmet'). However, there are noticeable limitations and inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as writing 'wrting' instead of writing, 'sports' instead of sport, 'bating' instead of batting, and 'keepering' instead of wicket-keeping. Furthermore, phrases like 'a famous cricket boy is there name krunal' show a restricted control of lexical items. Spelling errors are present, though they do not seriously impede communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'Although, In the begining you should work hard to learn game but after learning it could be easy to you.' However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including missing articles ('learn game'), incorrect verb forms ('I am wrting'), punctuation errors, and capitalization issues ('john', 'i', 'krunal'). Sentences often contain redundant phrasing or run-on structures. While communication is not severely blocked, the high frequency of grammatical and mechanical errors keeps the performance at a band 5.0 level.
