Dear Jatin,
I hope you are doing well ! I got your letter yesterday regarding learning a new sport and also saw the list of interests and things you mentioned in the letter, as per that and my personal experiance I would recommend playing tennis or badminton.
Moving ahead, as you know I have been playing badminton since a 2 months now, I was totally new to this sport but with the help of guidance by the trainer I have learned the basics for now it would be great to have you along as well.
I would sugguest you to think about this as the court is near to our place and in addition to this Badminton is does not need much equipments they timings are flexible and after intial training we can practice together and have a great time together.
I will wait for your response, Let me know you thoughts on this and also if you have any questions regarding the same.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The candidate successfully covers all bullet points required by the task prompt. First, a suitable sport (tennis or badminton) is recommended. Second, the student explains how to learn it by mentioning guidance from a trainer and learning the basics. Third, the proposal to learn together is clearly made with phrases such as 'it would be great to have you along as well' and 'after intial training we can practice together'. The tone is appropriately informal and friendly, fitting the required email format to an English-speaking friend. Ideas are relevant and fully developed, satisfying all aspects of the task effectively, which aligns well with the Band 7 descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The email follows a clear logical organization with an appropriate opening greeting and a friendly closing. Ideas progress reasonably well from acknowledging the friend's letter to making recommendations, explaining the learning process, and proposing joint practice. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Moving ahead,' 'in addition to this,' and 'after intial training,' though some transitions feel slightly mechanical or forced for an informal email. Paragraphing is used to separate different points, contributing to an overall coherent arrangement, although paragraph breaks could be managed a bit more naturally. These features place the response comfortably within the Band 6 to 7 range.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully communicating personal experiences and recommendations. Examples of appropriate lexical choices include 'experiance', 'flexible', and 'court'. However, there are some noticeable spelling errors ('experiance', 'sugguest', 'intial', 'equipments') and minor word-form slips ('since a 2 months now', where 'for' should be used). Despite these inaccuracies, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning without impeding communication, matching the criteria for Band 6.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'I got your letter yesterday regarding learning a new sport and also saw the list of interests...'. There are several grammatical errors and punctuation issues throughout the text, including run-on sentences with comma splices (e.g., '...regarding learning a new sport and also saw the list... I would recommend...', '...flexibile and after intial training we can practice...'). Additionally, prepositions and articles show occasional errors ('Badminton is does not need much equipments'). While these errors are noticeable, they do not impede overall communication, reflecting the characteristics of Band 6.
