Dear ....................................,
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Emily,
This is very exciting to hear that you are looking into learning a new sport. There are multiple sports centers in the town who offers classes for new comers. As I know that you have a keen ineterst in the football since your childhood.
I would suggest that you can join the Sportplex acedemy in Downtown. I am advising this center as you reside nearby to that location and I heard plenty of positive reviews from my friends who are recently attending this sport center. Also, the coaches are enthusiastic and friendly to learners which can be beneficial.
Moreover, I was thinking about following my hobbie in my leisure time and this could be a great opportunity where we both can join the spor together. Not only this can be an opportunity to learn something new but, we can spend quality time together and recall our childhood memories.
I am eagarly looking after to join this sport together. Please connet with me as soon as possible and we can proceed from there.
Yours truly,
Himani

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all three bullet points of the prompt appropriately. You successfully recommended learning football, explained how your friend could learn this by suggesting the Sportplex academy in Downtown, and proposed that you both learn the sport together. The tone is suitably friendly and informal for an email to a friend. However, the development of some ideas is slightly basic and limited by minor factual or logical awkwardness, such as stating that your friend has had a keen interest in football since childhood while simultaneously looking into learning it as a new sport. Despite this minor contradiction, the purpose of the letter is clearly met, fulfilling the requirements for a Band 6.5 or solid Band 6 level of task fulfilment.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The email has a clear overall structure and is divided into logical paragraphs, each addressing a distinct part of the prompt. Cohesive devices such as 'Also', 'Moreover', and 'Not only this can be' are used to connect ideas, though some transitions feel slightly mechanical or are grammatically flawed (e.g., 'Not only this can be an opportunity... but, we can...'). Referencing is generally clear, and the letter follows a natural progression from acknowledging the friend's request to recommending a location, suggesting a joint activity, and finally proposing a call to action. Paragraphing is used appropriately throughout, demonstrating adequate control of organizational features for a Band 6.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common phrases such as 'enthusiastic and friendly', 'quality time', and 'leisure time'. However, there are several noticeable word choice and spelling errors that detract from the fluency, such as 'new comers' (newcomers), 'ineterst' (interest), 'acedemy' (academy), and 'hobbie' (hobby). Additionally, phrases like 'keen ineterst in the football' contain unnecessary articles. While these errors do not impede overall communication, they reflect a Band 6 level where vocabulary is functional and attempts at less common items are accompanied by regular inaccuracies.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some variety in structure with clauses introduced by 'who', 'as', and 'where'. However, there are several grammatical errors and awkward phrasing patterns throughout the text. Examples include 'This is very exciting to hear' (It is very exciting to hear), 'centers in the town who offers' (center that offers subject-verb agreement), 'you reside nearby to that location' (you reside nearby), and 'I am eagarly looking after to join' (I am eagerly looking forward to joining). Punctuation and article errors also occur. Because these errors are frequent enough to cause some distraction without completely impeding understanding, a Band 5.5 or 6.0 is appropriate, leaning towards 6.0 due to successful communication of complex intentions.
