Student answer (Band 5.5)

Dear Janki,

I recieved your letter yesterday and i am so glad that i would be given you the best advice because you know this is my favourite stream.

There are vast variety of sports which famous in our country, but here i sugggest the most relevent sports according your personality and it is also my ome of the most favourite sport which is football. I know you are a physically active person and have an enough strength to cop up physical load during training. So, i give you a rough idea about the coaching from where you will get and how to apply it. For this you must get your full body checkup and other specific reports according to their requirement. After that you will apply to the government sports authority which is the best teaching institute across the country. Beside this you should watch the football match and learn the rules and techniques by your own.

In fact, i had been thinking about joining the academy since long time , but i am founding a company for this anfd fortunately now i have. If you agree with me, we will start this journey together.

Hoping for your positive feedback.

Yours truly,

Mahek

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You successfully covered all three bullet points required in the task instructions. You recommended a sport (football), explained how your friend could learn it (by getting a medical checkup and applying to the government sports authority or watching matches), and suggested that you both learn it together ('If you agree with me, we will start this journey together'). However, the tone is slightly unusual for an email to a friend, as applying to a 'government sports authority' for football coaching feels a bit formal and unrealistic for a casual hobby. Furthermore, there are some minor confusing phrasings, such as 'i am founding a company for this'. Despite these minor unnatural elements, all parts of the prompt are addressed clearly, warranting a solid band score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter has a clear overall progression and follows a logical structure from greeting to recommendation, learning methods, and the final suggestion to join together. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different ideas. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. For instance, transitional phrases like 'Beside this' are used awkwardly, and referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'from where you will get and how to apply it,' where the pronoun lacks a clear antecedent. Additionally, sentence boundaries are sometimes blurred due to missing capitalization and punctuation, such as 'and i am so glad' and 'according your personality'. Progression is maintained, but cohesive devices need smoother integration to reach higher bands.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'physically active', 'relevent', and 'government sports authority'. However, there are numerous lexical and spelling inaccuracies throughout the text, including 'recieved', 'vulnerability' alternatives missed, 'cop up' (instead of cope up or cope with), and 'ome' (instead of one). Word choice is occasionally imprecise, such as 'favourite stream' and 'have an enough strength'. These errors do not seriously impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score to a 5.5, as spelling and collocation errors are noticeable.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

You make an effort to use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional structures ('If you agree with me, we will start this journey together') and relative clauses ('sports which famous in our country'). However, your writing contains frequent grammatical errors, particularly missing articles ('have an enough strength', 'is famous'), incorrect prepositions ('according your personality'), and punctuation/capitalization errors (failing to capitalize 'I' multiple times). There are also tense and verb-form inconsistencies, such as 'i had been thinking about joining the academy since long time , but i am founding a company'. These errors cause some difficulty for the reader at times, placing your grammar in the 5.0 band range.
