Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response successfully covers all the bullet points outlined in the prompt. You begin by recommending a few sports such as 'heavy lifting', 'long meter race', or 'hockey'. You then explain how your friend can learn by 'watching online videos on youtube', 'hire a professional trainer', or enrolling in a 'sports school'. Finally, you successfully suggest that you both learn the sport together, specifically mentioning hockey: 'if you are planning to join hocky i would like to come with you'. The tone is appropriately informal and friendly throughout the letter. The ideas are relevant and adequately developed to fulfil the general training task requirements. Therefore, this response comfortably achieves a Band 6.0 standard for Task Achievement.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The email has a clear, overall coherent arrangement with a recognizable greeting and sign-off. You use logical transitions and cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'To add more', and 'Lastly' to guide the reader through your ideas. Paragraphing is also used appropriately to separate your recommendations, learning methods, and the shared learning proposal. However, some cohesive devices feel slightly mechanical or repetitive, and referencing can occasionally be improved, such as shifting between different sports in the first paragraph before settling on hockey later. Overall, the organization is logical enough to warrant a solid Band 6.0.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to successfully convey your message to your friend. You make attempts at less common vocabulary items and collocations, such as 'professional hyrox player', 'certified hockey trainer', and 'professional trainer'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'intrest' instead of 'interest', 'proffesional' instead of 'professional' (repeated multiple times), 'comfotable' instead of 'comfortable', and 'enrolled' instead of 'enrol'. Additionally, 'hocky' is misspelled. These lexical slips and spelling inaccuracies prevent the response from reaching higher bands, placing it firmly at a Band 5.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional structures ('if you are planning to join hocky i would like to come with you') and relative clauses. There are, however, several grammatical, punctuation, and capitalization errors that occur throughout the text. For example, lower-case letters are used for the pronoun 'i' ('i felt so proud', 'i would like to'), there are comma splices and run-on sentences ('not only this but you can also enrolled'), and missing articles or prepositions in phrases like 'intrest in new sport'. Despite these frequent errors in mechanics and control, the meaning is generally clear and communication is rarely impeded, supporting a Band 5.5 score.
