Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Philp,
Hope you are doing well. I am exited to suggest an effective outdoor sport activity for you, which is not other than batmendone.
This is an interesting sports activity, which has an option for play in a group of two or singles. This is easy to learn and effective way for buring the calories. There is a sports academy near to my house, and they are offering a learning session for this sport. The institution named 'Better sports' and the faculty and trainer are really good.
I am also interested to learn this sports with you, because this would also help me to improve my health. Moreover, i believe that an intersting sports activity alo help to imporove our overall performance.
I hope we can both join together for this sports lessons

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three points: you recommend badminton, identify a nearby academy as a way to learn, and invite Philp to join you. The advice is relevant, but some parts are less fully developed than others. For example, “they are offering a learning session” does not explain how to enrol, when lessons take place, or what a beginner should expect. The invitation to learn together is clear, though the reason—improving your health—is only briefly stated. The response is also 16 words below the required minimum, so there is limited space to develop these details. Add practical information and a warmer closing to make the email more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The message has a generally clear progression: you introduce the sport, describe its benefits and a place to learn, then suggest learning together. Paragraphing helps separate these stages, and linking expressions such as “Moreover” make the relationship between ideas clear. This organisation is effective, though the short final paragraph feels abrupt and would benefit from a complete closing sentence and sign-off. Some connections are also slightly mechanical, particularly the repeated use of “This” to begin explanations. You could improve flow by linking the academy information directly to a practical suggestion, then moving naturally to your invitation. Overall, the reader can follow the message without difficulty.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “sports academy,” “learning session,” and “improve my health,” so your meaning is generally understandable. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause: “batmendone” should be “badminton,” “exited” should be “excited,” and “buring” should be “burning.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “effective outdoor sport activity” and “not other than.” The range is adequate for communicating the basic advice, but several expressions are repetitive or imprecise. Check spelling carefully and choose natural collocations, such as “a good sport to take up” and “a beginner’s class.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more developed sentence forms, including the relative clause in “an outdoor sport activity for you, which…” and the reason introduced by “because.” The main message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors occur. For example, “This is easy to learn and effective way” needs an article before “effective way,” while “an intersting sports activity alo help” has problems with agreement and sentence structure. The final line, “I hope we can both join together for this sports lessons,” also has an unclear construction and mismatched singular/plural forms. Use a wider range of accurate sentence patterns, and proofread articles, agreement, and sentence endings.
