Dear ....................................,
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sarah,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am so excited for you that you want to learn a new sport. I just want to let you know that you should learn a swimming. As it is a good form of exercise and can potentially saves a someones life in an emergency. Moreover, it is not only a sport but an essential life skill that everyone should learn once in their lifetime.
I would recommend you take a proffessional training from one of the proffessional coaches in our town. Also, you can join a local swimming pool club that offers a proffessional training with the other recreational activities. In that way, you can relax and enjoy in the evening time which would improve your overall well-being.
I was also thinking from a long time to learn this skill but unfortunately I was not getting motivation from anywhere to do this. But now you also want to do something in your liesure time hence it would be a good idea to do it together. I am sure you will like my idea and do let me know the time and date you would like to start. Therefore, I will set up my schedule according to it.
See you soon and Lots of love !
Yours lovingly,
Jasmeen

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5
You address all three requirements clearly: you recommend swimming, explain that Sarah could take lessons with a coach or join a local club, and invite her to learn with you. The reasons—that swimming is good exercise and a useful life skill—support your recommendation, while the closing asks her to suggest a time and date. This gives the email a clear purpose and a consistent, friendly position. To make the ideas more fully developed, add a practical detail about how to begin, such as a suitable beginner class or when you could attend together. The suggestion that the club offers “other recreational activities” is less directly connected to learning swimming, so a little more focus on lessons and your shared plan would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The email follows a clear progression: you introduce the recommendation, explain how Sarah can learn, then propose joining her and close warmly. Paragraph breaks help distinguish these stages, and linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Also,” and “But now” make relationships between ideas clear. The overall organisation is easy to follow. At times, however, transitions feel somewhat mechanical, and some ideas are crowded into long sentences, particularly the paragraph about the swimming club and the final paragraph. Use a few more natural links and divide or reshape those sentences so each paragraph develops one main point. The sign-off is appropriate, though the punctuation around “Lots of love” could be made more consistent.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use vocabulary suited to a friendly email and the topic, including “form of exercise,” “essential life skill,” “local swimming pool club,” and “overall well-being.” These choices communicate your ideas, but the range is uneven and several spelling, word-form, or collocation errors reduce precision: “proffessional” is misspelled, “liesure” is incorrect, and “learn a swimming” is not a natural phrase. “Do it together” is understandable but vague when referring to learning the sport. Aim for accurate, natural combinations and check spelling carefully; this will make your message sound more fluent and assured. The vocabulary is adequate for the task, but greater control of common phrases is needed for a stronger performance.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including the reason clause “As it is a good form of exercise” and the conditional idea “which would improve your overall well-being.” Most meaning remains clear, but some grammatical errors occur. For example, “can potentially saves” should use the base verb after “can,” and “a someones life” has an incorrect article and possessive form. “I was also thinking from a long time” needs a more suitable tense and time expression, while “I was not getting motivation” would be clearer with an article or a different construction. Review verb patterns, articles, and tense choices, and punctuate sentence boundaries carefully. More consistently accurate complex sentences would improve control.
