- suggest that you both learn this sport together
You do NOT need to write any addresses.
Begin your letter as follows:
Dear ....................................,
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Malav,
How have you been? It feels longtime since we last talk. I am writing to give you some information about learning a new sport.
I think learning a cricket would be the best option for you. As I know since childhood you are very much attracted to play cricket. In addition, you also played cricket many times till now, therefore, it would be easy for you to become master in this sport.
You can learn this sport by joining Sardar couching center in our town which is a better choice to enhance your skills in this sport. Moreover, you could also start following footsteps of famous cricketers such as Virat kohli and Rohit sharma by watching them to play cricket on television.
I am also interested to join classes with you as I also want to learn something new in my summer vacation so if you are interested we will start learning this sport together.
I hope my suggestion would help you to decide about learning a new sport. Now I am waiting for your response. See you soon.
Yours truly,
Vandan

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You address all three points clearly: cricket is recommended, you suggest a local coaching centre and watching well-known players, and you invite your friend to learn with you. The personal detail that Malav has enjoyed cricket since childhood makes the recommendation relevant, while the closing keeps the email friendly and appropriate. Your ideas are supported with reasons, such as the sport being familiar and your own interest in learning during the summer. To make the advice more fully developed, explain what the coaching centre offers or how you could arrange your first lesson together. Overall, the purpose and relationship are clear throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The email has a clear progression: a friendly opening, the recommendation, ways to learn, an invitation to join you, and a closing. Paragraphing helps the reader follow each part of the message, and linking expressions such as “In addition” and “Moreover” connect related points. The invitation is placed naturally after the learning suggestions. Some transitions feel slightly formulaic, and the long sentence beginning “I am also interested” combines several ideas without enough punctuation, making the progression less smooth. Use a full stop or a clearer connector to separate your interest, the summer-vacation reason, and the invitation. The overall organisation remains logical and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the advice and maintain a friendly tone, including phrases such as “enhance your skills,” “famous cricketers,” and “interested to join classes.” However, several word choices and collocations are noticeably inaccurate or unnatural, which limits precision. For example, “learning a cricket” and “become master” do not express the intended meaning naturally; “coaching center” is also the appropriate term rather than “couching center.” Capitalisation in “Virat kohli” and “Rohit sharma” should be corrected. Aim to learn common word combinations and check spelling and proper names carefully. More precise phrasing would make the message sound more fluent and natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mixture of simple and more complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “as,” “since,” and “so.” The meaning is generally understandable, but errors occur in verb forms, articles, and sentence construction. For instance, “It feels longtime since we last talk” needs a more accurate tense and structure, while “As I know since childhood” is not a well-formed clause. In “you are very much attracted to play,” the grammatical pattern after “attracted” is incorrect. The final invitation also runs several clauses together and needs clearer punctuation. Practise accurate past and present-perfect forms, article use, and sentence boundaries; these corrections would improve control while preserving your attempts at complex sentences.
