Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Rahul,
I hope you are doing well and in great spirits. I am writing this letter to advice regarding learning a new sport. After carefully considering your daily routine as you mentioned in your letter. I suggest you to go for badminton, as this sport only only allows you to be physically fit, but also strengthens your bones.
You can enroll under sports complex, named as "Shred house" that is near to our society. The reason I choose this as I heared from one of my collegue that, staff and the trainers are tremendiously certifite professions. In addition to this, they have proper infrastructure for play this activity. A trained instructor explains all the rules and provides useful information, which makes the place more enjoyable and informative.
I also find this sport really interested and enjoyable, that's the reason I also join with you. What you think about this? I would really appreciate, If we could join together.
I am looking forward to hearing from you.
Your loving,
Aakash

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You address all three requirements: badminton is recommended, you identify a nearby sports complex and explain that an instructor can teach the rules, and you invite Rahul to learn with you. The reasons are relevant, especially the reference to fitness and the centre’s facilities. Your purpose and friendly tone remain clear throughout. To make the advice more fully developed, give a little more practical detail about how Rahul could begin—for example, suggesting a beginner class, what equipment to bring, or when you could attend. The explanation of why badminton suits Rahul is also quite general, so connect it more specifically to the routine he mentioned.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The email has a clear overall shape: an opening and recommendation, a paragraph about where and how to learn, and a closing invitation. Phrases such as “In addition to this” and “I am looking forward to hearing from you” help signal relationships and maintain the letter format. The progression is generally easy to follow, but some links are awkward or unclear, such as “The reason I choose this as I heared…” and “that’s the reason I also join with you.” The final paragraph also repeats the invitation in two consecutive sentences. Use more direct transitions and combine repeated points so the cohesion feels more natural and less mechanical.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of vocabulary relevant to sport and instruction, including “physically fit,” “strengthens your bones,” “trainers,” “instructor,” and “infrastructure.” These choices make the recommendation understandable and show an attempt to use more specific language. However, several inaccurate word choices, collocations, and spelling errors reduce precision: “advice” is used where the verb “advise” is needed, “tremendiously certifite professions” is unclear, and “interested” does not express that you enjoy the sport. Some phrases, such as “enroll under sports complex,” are also unnatural. Aim for accurate, natural combinations and check spelling before finishing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including the contrast in “not only … but also” and the relative clause “which makes the place more enjoyable and informative.” These attempts help convey connected ideas, but control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make sentences difficult to interpret. For example, “After carefully considering your daily routine as you mentioned in your letter” is a fragment, while “I suggest you to go” and “I also join with you” use incorrect verb patterns. There are also problems with sentence boundaries and punctuation, including the full stop after “letter.” Practise complete sentence structures and verb patterns such as “suggest that you try” and “I’ll join you.”
