Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Rohit,

I am writing this email regarding asport which is quite famous and good for maintaining our physical fitness. I am thinking about that we should play tennis which is not only benifical to maintaining our body better but it also give us mental boost to think precisely and effectively which eventually hepls us in daily life.

Furthermore, it is very easy to learn from social media as well as by watching others. I saw many of our classmates play in the club which is very close to our house.

In addition to this, we only need two players in this so we can practise and become good in this support. I also check my schedule which is almost same as yours so i think it is better to go at 7 rightaway after we finish our job.

I hope you also like this sport, if you have any other plan or things in mind please let me know.

Kind Regards

Ram Sharma

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address all three requested points: tennis is recommended, you mention learning through social media and observing players at a nearby club, and you propose practising together. The friendly email format and direct invitation suit the task. The recommendation is supported with reasons, including fitness and mental benefits, but the explanation of how Rohit could learn is less fully developed: watching others is a starting point, while a beginner class, coach, or specific club session would make the advice more practical. The proposed time to meet is useful, though “7” could be clarified as morning or evening. More specific support for these suggestions would make the response feel more fully developed and purposeful.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The message has a clear overall sequence: you introduce tennis, explain how to learn, suggest practising together, and close by inviting a reply. Paragraph breaks help distinguish these stages, and linking phrases such as “Furthermore” and “In addition to this” make the progression easy to follow. Some connections are less smooth or precise, however. “In addition to this” introduces the practical point about needing two players, but the link to the previous learning advice is not especially clear. The long opening sentence also combines several benefits, making the main recommendation harder to absorb. Use shorter sentences and more natural transitions, and make references such as “in this” explicit, to improve flow and cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the recommendation, including “physical fitness,” “mental boost,” “practise,” and “schedule.” There are also attempts at more expressive phrasing, such as “think precisely and effectively,” although some combinations are unnatural or imprecise. Spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable: “asport,” “benifical,” “hepls,” and “support” distract from the message, while “play tennis” is more natural than “play this sport” in the later reference. The range is adequate for this familiar topic, but greater accuracy with collocations and careful proofreading would make your meaning more fluent and precise. Aim for natural phrases rather than translating ideas word for word.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including the structure “which is not only … but it also …,” and most of the message remains understandable. Some grammatical errors occur in these longer constructions: “I am thinking about that we should play tennis” needs a different pattern, such as “I think we should play tennis,” and “it also give us” has incorrect subject–verb agreement. The sentence about practising also has an unclear construction: “we only need two players in this so we can practise.” Capitalisation and punctuation need attention, particularly the lowercase “i” and the comma joining “I hope you also like this sport” to the following clause. More accurate sentence patterns and punctuation would strengthen control.
