Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5
You address all three points clearly: swimming is recommended, you explain ways Sam could learn it, and you invite Sam to practise with you. The reasons—fitness, stamina and stress relief—make the recommendation relevant, while the suggestions of a club, coach and online videos give practical guidance. The invitation is also explicit: “We can learn this skill together” and “join the same class.” These ideas are extended enough to make the email purposeful, although some support remains general; for example, you could explain why swimming specifically suits Sam or suggest a particular beginner class. The friendly opening and closing suit the task, though “Yours sincerely” is more formal than necessary for a friend.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The email has a clear progression: you respond to Sam’s request, recommend swimming, explain how to learn it, and finish with a joint invitation. Separate paragraphs help the reader follow these stages, and linking expressions such as “Firstly,” “Moreover,” and “Apart from this” make relationships between ideas clear. The organisation is consistently easy to follow. To make the cohesion more natural and flexible, avoid relying on a list-like sequence of connectors and link some points through their meaning instead. For instance, the benefits of swimming could lead directly into the suggestion to join a club. The repeated use of “you can” and “we can” is understandable but could be varied with clearer references or sentence structures.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the recommendation and practical advice, with relevant terms such as “physical fitness,” “stamina,” “professional coach,” and “basic skills.” However, the range is limited in places, and noticeable spelling, word-form and collocation errors reduce precision. Examples include “advise” where the noun “advice” is needed, “appropraite,” “clsses,” and “equipments.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “for the physical and mental well being of the individuals” and “correct playing style” when discussing swimming. Aim to use accurate, natural combinations rather than adding formal-sounding wording. Proofreading spelling and choosing sport-specific vocabulary would make your message clearer and more fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mixture of simple sentences and longer structures, including reasons introduced by “because” and a conditional sentence beginning “If you want…”. This gives the email some variety, and the main message remains understandable. However, errors in basic sentence construction and agreement occur often enough to limit accuracy. For example, “I hope your fit and fiddle” needs a verb, while “it is also consider” has an incorrect verb form. In “than you can hire,” the conditional clause requires “then,” and “Practice makes man perfect” is missing an article. There are also awkward sentence boundaries and punctuation, particularly in the opening. Practise checking subject–verb forms, articles and complete clauses, then build more complex sentences accurately.
