Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Linda, i received your email requesting for an advice on the new sport to engage in. Anyways, I would advice that you go for a football sport. My reason for suggesting football is because you'er good at it even while growing up. Also, there are coaches available to give you a full training and the training hours are conveniet for you. it will give you time to attend to other things. Aside that, football sports makes you strong and healthy. you will be able to learn this sport with the support of a coach training you. Furthermore, i would be glad if both of us can learn this sport together. The both of us can ppractice together after being trained by our coach. That will enable is learn faster and be more serious in the training.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three requested points: you recommend football, mention available coaches and convenient training hours, and invite Linda to learn and practise with you. The personal reason that she was “good at it even while growing up” makes the recommendation relevant, although the learning plan and the benefits of learning together are only briefly explained. The response is also below the required 150 words, so it needs more development. Add practical details, such as where to find a coach, what equipment or sessions might be needed, and when you could practise together. These additions would make the advice more complete and useful to your friend.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The ideas follow a generally sensible order: you introduce the request, recommend a sport, explain how Linda could learn it, and suggest practising together. Linking expressions such as “Also,” “Furthermore,” and “Aside that” help show the relationships between points, though some transitions feel mechanical or are not used naturally. The email is presented as one continuous block, which makes the different parts of the advice less distinct. Use short paragraphs—for example, one for the recommendation and reasons, and another for learning together—and choose more natural links such as “In addition” or “As well as that.” Clearer reference in the final sentence would also help the reader follow your meaning.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main advice, including “full training,” “training hours,” and “support of a coach.” However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “requesting for an advice,” “football sport,” and “football sports makes you strong.” There are also spelling errors, including “conveniet” and “ppractice,” and “advice” is used where the verb “advise” is needed. These issues do not prevent understanding, but they limit the precision and naturalness of the email. Aim for common, accurate phrases such as “asking for advice,” “take up football,” and “football can help you stay fit.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more developed sentence forms, including the reason introduced by “because” and the clause “if both of us can learn this sport together.” The main message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “I would advice” uses the wrong verb form, “football sports makes” has a subject–verb agreement problem, and “That will enable is learn” has an incorrect pronoun and missing infinitive marker. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, particularly at the starts of sentences. Check verb forms, agreement, and sentence boundaries, and proofread for capital letters. More accurate control of these patterns would make your advice easier to read.
